International Iraq is falling, not clear if embassy is being evacuated

Another idiotic whatabout. You have already admitted to your hypocrisy and dishonest premise in this thread. You can’t back track now pal.

My disdain for Trump is not an endorsement of Biden. Pointing your blatant dishonesty is not an endorsement of Biden either. If you weren’t such a partisan hack you would realize that. I almost feel bad for you.

Wrong. I haven’t been dishonest at all. I was applying the same standards of scrutiny to Biden, that were applied to Trump (I.e. arguing from absurdity). I’ve been open and honest about it.

Please quote me where I have lied or been dishonest.

If anything, you have lied, as you claim to support applying the same standards of scrutiny to both Trump and Biden … and yet, in practice, you clearly don’t do this.

You’re dumber than I thought. You admitted in this thread to looking like a disingenuous political hack.

I stated in this thread that blaming Biden for Iraq was irrational. But, at the same time, people blamed Trump for COVID deaths and BLM riots … which is also irrational, as neither presidents have any control over these issues. So, I am merely saying, let’s apply the same standards of scrutiny to both presidents!

You seem to believe that we should be irrationally harsh on Trump when it comes to criticism. But, not do the same to Biden …

And, then you point the finger at me and call me “partisan”, when I am the one calling for equality …. Again, look in the mirror!

I read such topics and always wonder how easy ppl are blaming Biden for everything.
Most likely now he will be blamed for huge floods in Pakistan....cos for not enough good harvest in Indonesia, Turkey and India ppl too are blaming Biden....
Like he is God^___

We don't have USD and Biden.
Still we had lockdowns, inflation and covid histeria & a lot of idiotism....
Including mortgage prices hiked up till insane level .....cos central banks not only had " printed " money in oreder to tackle economy afloat ....
Also had lowered key interest rate and commercial banks used this to boost price bubble again....almost like 2007th...with exception that ppl are more cautious to borrow money....

Yeah, we don't have Biden and USD and still had the same problems....
Yeah, also inflation even before Ukr war even in China and in Russia etc...
Not alone in eurozone and U.K too....

### More than this: some politicians cryed that ppl without vaccine cert should not be allowed to walk on the street....
In some countries politicians suggested that vaccine should be mandatory for all ppl otherwise fine xxxx and sit at home until will get paper...

Now ofc these bitches can't prove that against onmicron vaccines does work....a lot of vaccinated ppl had this onmicron and gubbermints can't deny this reality....

For ppl in U.S looks that opinion is: for all this Biden is responsible....
Sure.
Soon will be reports about bad harvest in one african country....again Biden will be blamed?

You did not start out claiming the criticism of Biden was irrational. That is a later invention of yours. You started out trying to justify it because of how trump was treated. One phrase you used was now the shoe is in the other foot. I even pointed out to you your stance was disingenuous, to which you agreed it was.

Again you’re confusing my criticism of you as endorsement of Biden. Which is simply not true. It is another example of your dishonesty. I call you a partisan hack because you are. Which is even more odd seeing you’re not an American and can not vote. I’m done with this back and forth until you can show a modicum of honesty and integrity.

I have been open and honest. Please quote me where I have lied about anything. If not, then stop suggesting that I am lying, or I will put you on my ignore list.

I mockingly stated that this situation in Iraq is “happening on Biden’s watch”, as this is the kind of irrational, absurd rhetoric that Trump was subjected to for four years. Particularly around the BLM riots and COVID deaths.

I was demonstrating a point. A point that has gone way over your head, perhaps because you are being deliberately obtuse.

Is anyone going to actually talk about Iraq?

Or we just doing blah blah Biden but but Trump again? Isn't there enough threads on that?

From what I can read it kicked off because the chap considered the a king maker (Muqtada al-Sadr ) said he's retiring from politics and closing his political offices and his supporters launched a huge protest? Stormed the government palace and such.

Now that guy is going on a hunger strike untill the violence ends. But that's just a cursory glance at the news. Anyone able to explain the situation to me? Without mentioning your damn President's would be nice.

Apparently this has been brewing for a while.

I'm a bit confused by him announcing his retirement triggering violence in his name. It's not like he was removed or forced to step down was he ?

Or was it a ploy by him to speed things up a bit ?

I'm quite confused by the time line

This article gives a very good summary in timeline format.

seems Sadr is a nationalist and anti US and Iran and main opposition is pro Iran (I guess anti US too then?).

the videos coming out are weird how the civilians are just on the sidelines watching militias duke it out. Reminds me of casual videos coming out of Ukraine of farmers towing tanks, etc.

there was a much longer version of this one I saw last night, where the gun fighting picks up and there is just a sea of cellphones recording on the sideline lol. CAnt find it now since there is so much footage from this morning.

today will be interesting because there are reports of Al-Sadr’s group leaving the green zone. Show’s how powerful he is I guess. This all could have been a move by him to show his power and influence

mother footage of them leaving the government buildings and such.

But crazy how quickly he was able to set off his supporters and then how quickly other militias and such responded. Can’t help but think mass civil war is imminent

Hundreds of Iraqi protesters stormed the government palace and took to the streets Monday after popular Shia cleric Muqtada al-Sadr, whose bloc won the most seats in parliamentary elections last fall, announced he was stepping back from politics. At least 23 people were killed and more than 380 were injured in clashes between al-Sadr supporters, Iran-aligned groups, and Iraqi security forces. Moreover, al-Sadr announced he was starting a hunger strike until the violence stops. It's the the worst violence Baghdad has seen in years, most of which is concentrated around the heavily fortified Green Zone, which houses foreign embassies and government buildings. For almost a year, Iran-aligned parties have prevented al-Sadr from forming a new government, prompting his 73 lawmakers to resign en masse this summer in protest, which in turn led to sectarian clashes. Al-Sadr — who has long railed against Iran’s influence over Iraqi social and political life— retains widespread influence over some institutions and has proved adept at whipping his supporters into a frenzy. (Last month, hundreds of his supporters breached Baghdad’s Green Zone and occupied parliament.) The Supreme Court will decide on Tuesday whether parliament will be dissolved and new elections called – though the constitution says the legislature must agree to dissolve itself. That’s unlikely given that parliament is now dominated by a pro-Iran bloc, which became the biggest parliamentary faction by default after al-Sadr withdrew. Iraq’s military announced a nationwide curfew as the situation continues to deteriorate.

This is the dumbest whatabout you have attempted yet.

He's got a point. Trump literally couldn't eat two scoops of ice cream without the media, and the forum following in its footsteps, turning it into a dialogue on what a bad president he was. It's shitty partisan rhetoric to hold the guy we don't like to an impossible and unfair standard, but it's even shittier partisan rhetoric to hold the guy we don't like to that standard then throw up our hands and say "Well, I guess nothing can be done!" when the guy we like bungles his way through the day. Goon is mirroring the shitty standard that has been the norm in this standard - that you don't like it says more about you than him, as he's just being a Sherdogger on a day of the week.

At the end of the day, at least Biden doesn't have the cult of personality that Trump does... Though it's kind of stomach turning to see people washing the balls of a guy they don't like just because he's on their team.

I got a buddy in the national guard in Iraq now. He just let me know recently. Couldn't tell me his exact location though.

I thought we were done with this shit.
No there’s been some combat units out there supporting against isis and even getting into a few fire fights here and there

One could argue that the rightwing's obsession with blaming anything on Obama and nitpicking led to the liberals giving Trump a hard time. But Trump does invite a lot of it on himself with his self aggrandizement, boasting, lies and hypocrisy and obnoxious rhetoric.
