If you have seen the entire season one of INVINCIBLE, how would your rate it?

I really hope they have a bigger budget for their animation next season. They should stop hiring big name actors to play random characters nobody cares about. I just saw that they had John Ham as a random security guy lol. I mean why? There's probably a bunch of career voice actors who would love to work on this show and be far cheaper.

Hey so I’m a few episodes in on this and while I don’t find it great as it’s simplistic (my apologies if you find it is, and I’m only a few episodes in so it might just be in the table setting phase and really pick up later) it’s really hitting that “mindless fun fighto fighto” nerve well.

I’ve got a grade 3 AC joint separation in my shoulder and am sidelined a while. The only exercises I can do are leg machines with the middle aged ladies at the gym and the elliptical that collects dust in our basement (jogging hurts with the jarring, and can’t support my weight with handlebars to bike) and this show has been perfect for 20 minutes on the boring ass elliptical I’m using to not be a couch potato next 3-6 months. Got any other recommendations like this? I’d greatly appreciate it.

Dragon Ball Daima as the English dub comes out (I can’t do subs, hate it) is my other I’m using for reference.
In terms of quality of story, it's not top tier. You are correct, it hits the mindless fun nerve. I was entertained by the show in season one but not to the point where I'm openly recommending it to everybody. I'm in season two and that's where the fun factor goes up several notches and that's why I'm recommending it. The last arc in season 2 is epic. I have my problems with the show though which I've shared in the anime thread.

Sorry to hear about your injury, hope you get well soon. As for my highest anime recommendation, please check out FRIEREN: BEYOND JOURNEY'S END (2023). This is not action-oriented but I still hope you give it a try.

DANDADAN

Just watched the season and it was pretty good overall. Big improvement over Season 2.

I don't like how much time they spend on the side heroes and villains vs. the amount of time they spend on the major story.. which is the impending planetary takeover from the Viltrimites.
With only 8 episodes, they just end up condensing so much into so little time, so there's not enough time to really care, or for some of these big moments to really hit the way that they should.

I see a lot of criticism about Mark's unwillingness to kill, but it makes sense. He isn't a soldier. He's a regular kid.
He's like what...19? Regardless of what is morally right or wrong, how many people are comfortable with killing people with their bare hands, even if they deserve it? He doesn't want to be like his dad, so makes sense why he holds back more, even when he shouldn't.

I just disagree here honestly. The multiverse guy almost killed his mom and his little baby brother. Then the clones went around and murdered thousands of people and again almost killed his mother and little brother. He still even hesitates to kill the guy.

Sure he's a kid but we've sent plenty of 18 years olds throughout history to go murder people with really no problems at all. This connection to his dad is just not a good excuse. His dad is going around killing innocent people. Killing a man who tried to kill your mom, brother, and every other person on earth is not the same as what his dad did, not even close.

Either way seems like Mark has changed his POV on that and learned what his little brother learned a long time ago. It took longer than I would have liked but at least he came around.

I do think giving some villains a chance isn't a bad thing but you can only be given so many chances before it's time to go.

He of course has plenty of reason to want to kill, and he would be justified to do so, but I think a lot of normal people would have a hard time to actually do so under most circumstances...especially a 19 year old.

He doesn't have laser eyes or gun fingers. Any killing he does is going to be with his bare hands. We saw how brutal that has been so far. That's way different from shooting someone. A lot easier to detach yourself from what you're doing when you have some distance.

18 year olds in history were in a war, they were training to kill. Mark is specifically against killing, so the mindset isn't the same. His goal is to save people, not kill the bad guy.
I'm not saying that his dad killing innocent people is the same as him killing a bad guy that deserves it--but, he obviously cares about his image, how other people will see him, and about where he could wind up. He doesn't want to test that line.
He just saw 18 other versions of him that were all evil---didn't care about human life. And all of the Viltrimites are telling him how soft he is, so that's part of who he is.

To be clear, I don't think either way is wrong. If he starts killing bad guys now, it'll makes sense. But I think the show has established a lot of good reasons why it is something he doesn't want to do.

Maybe I'm just wired different but when I was 18 I wanted to be a marine because I wanted to "fight". Read into that what you want.

If I watched invincible back in the day before dvr or streaming, with commercials, I would of tapped out by now. It's only saved for me by the ability to fast forward through the dreck

There's wanting to fight, and wanting to kill. Wanting to be in the action and to save people isn't abnormal. Wanting to kill someone with your bare hands is something else. I just don't think being a soldier and being a super hero are the same. There's important differences especially when we're talking about the killing part.

Animation like Invincible didn't really exist in the past though, so it probably wouldn't of appealed to a lot of people. This isn't really something for a 14 year old. They're appealing to adults as well, so they need more than non-stop action and gore.

Just finished S2, will be watching S3 this weekend.

Like people mentioned, it seemed like S2 was slower paced.
I somewhat familiar with the comics, haven't read them, but read summaries of the big events...and was disappointed with the multiverse stuff....but i understand because of copyright issues

It looks like Thragg will show up.

Love how Eve shows all the work she's doing for
the show.

Wow tone deaf teaser. He still doesn’t win any fights. Ducked most of his alternate universe versions and let others fight and die while he hid. Failed to actually kill angstrom. Got absolutely bailed out against conquest by Eve with a “for the plot” blast.

I am glad it’s a yearly release. March is nice.
