In the last episode I just skipped most, not all of Mark's Mom's(I'm failing to remember her name) relationship filler.

The last line of Season 2 was Omni-Man saying "I think I miss my wife."

So her new relationship is going to complicate the situation when he returns to Earth. Not that the fact he basically said she was 'like a pet' and caused a 9/11 since last seeing her wouldn't already be massively complicated.

Episode 3- I really like it- but the only thing I can think to write about are nit picks? Guess being a critic really is easy

The power scaling is really messed up. Mark is supposedly the strongest, but all he does is get wrecked. Even instestines dude and magma guy handled him and he had to get saved by Oliver, when bulletproof and Rex both handled those guys with ease. Also Oliver was clearly stronger than Invincible vs the Maulers. That was season 1 high potential but not realized Invincible stuff. He’s supposed to be much more capable now but it’s the same old shit.

Oliver’s morals being omni man’s is super good in that delightfully fucked up way that makes invincible great tho. Little purple psychopath. Makes sense with the bug people’s short lifespans.

Debbie has been best cartoon mom but telling her new boyfriend on the 2nd date her sons identity was a big no no. Good talk to the purple psychopath. She’s trying. He ain’t listening.

But to be clear I’m liking this. I’m just hardwired to be a shit poster I guess.

Interesting video about the animation of Season 3 in comparison to 1&2.

Personally, I barely noticed the 'downgrade' and its still very good. The most obvious downgrade in animation of a series I remember was the 90s Batman TAS, when it was obviously given a giant budget cut and new title 'The Adventures of Batman & Robin.' Invincible S3 is no where close to that.

If that's the tradeoff for having a new 8-episode season every year, rather than every 2.5 years, I'd happily make that compromise.

This series is, as of now, supposed to be eight seasons total. Lets give the creators credit for dedicating 10+ years to adapting 144 issues into 8 seasons, while cutting out alot of fluff (hopefully involving the multiverse).

The question isn't a spoiler but the answer will be, but I don't want to tempt anybody into looking at the answer when its posted so I'm also putting the question in spoilers.

At what point does the Vultrumite invasion of Earth begin in the 144-issues?

I'm curious if I should expect the show to be mostly the build-up to the invasion, and the actual invasion is the final season.

Or is the invasion and war the final few seasons?

Or is my expectations about to be subverted with it starting at.... like halfway through the planned 8-season run?

To be fair Game of Thrones itself was one season a year until season 7 followed by one season every 18 months but I'd agree the two year gaps which seem to become ever more common are pretty questionable if you have stories which are strong serialised, if you have each season as quite independent like say Andor I have less issue with it but shows telling a continuous story taking that long to carry it on I think tend to loose a lot of the hype.

I felt the same way, Mark supposedly got a lot stronger since S2 and he obviously should be stronger than his kid brother who just got his powers, but he's getting touched up by the Maulers while Oliver just smashes through them. I get that he's holding back, but seeing how strong he is, even him holding back he shouldn't be hitting hit like that. He should be toying with them instead of letting them get hits in.

Same goes for the underground creatures Mark had trouble with. The animated cyborgs could kill them, but Mark can easily tear through a bunch of those things. He shouldn't have had as much trouble with the giant centipedes. In S1 he took out that giant monster that beat up Omni man for a bit.

He was right about the maulers, but saying the "They're not special. They're just normal" was a holy shit catch your breath line of this twisted purple homicide bug. But he hasn't gotten to socialize with anyone to value "normal" life. He's been cooped up in a house with Debbie and Mark and the Nanny. The outside world is a video game to him populated by NPCs. So I get it.

There was word they were thinking of doing a live-action movie of Invincible, but that was a long time ago.

I love movies, but the fact is they have an extremely limited runtime for character introductions, development, and conclusion wrapped around a plot. That doesn't include the action scenes.

You could argue though he's seen the potential for a slippery slope if he sets himself up "above" everyone else.

I would say though I don't think the show has ever aimed at being 100% logical in universe, I feel like its always played around with a lot of superhero tropes, I mean just the amount of "threats" happening is almost comical. Indeed I think that would be a problem a film would have to deal with, would a major blockbuster be allowed to be as meta/knowing? maybe something of the level of say Kickass but I think Invinceble is clearly more a $100+ million film and that is something studios would be pushing for "broad audience".

As far as the shows release schedule as well I suspect they probably realised as well that season 2-3 needed to be closer together. Season 1 was more of a stand alone plot focusing mostly on Mark becoming a hero and the reveal of his fathers nature but season 2-3 have a more complex plot which follows on far more, a two year gap between them would have been much worse IMHO.

Oh fucking hell.
Timetravel AND multi-verses.

The duo that kills the stakes of any and all storylines.
Something bad happens? Just travel back in time or find someone in another universe that will undo that bad thing from happening.

One is bad.
Both is terrible.

Was hoping they'd leave, or at least minimize, this shit in Season2 but this can square² the plot-conveniences AKA deus-ex-machinas.

Wonder if they'll bring in magic-users like Doctor Strange or Scarlet Witch that can change reality.

I wasn't a fan of all the time spent on Mark and Eve's relationship nor the timelines and multi-verse shit, but this is yet another one of Mark's "growing pains" he has to go through to learn that he may have to kill people sometimes.

I know that in the comics the multiverse stuff is a big part of the story, but I was wondering if they could trim that down in the show.

And finally the prison break scene! I was waiting for the Nolan and Allen team up fight, not to mention Battle Beast. I thought Battle Beast would have an easier time with the Viltrumite in a one on one fight. He obviously wins but I wonder why the show didn't give us a conclusion.

I found out that both Mike and Jessie Pinkman are cast as voice actors this season. It's cool they got these big name actors in this show but I can't help but wonder if they could hire less famous actors and leave more room in the budget to improve the animation..

Kinda makes me wonder how much these voice actors are actually worth the attention they receive.

I actually appreciate they're getting work and attention, but it does make me wonder if they're cast just for the promotion of the show, are they actually bringing in new viewers, are they really the best actors for the jobs, and.... have they actually done VO work before?

There's been some great screen actors that do great VOs, there's some usually VO actors that are great screen actors, but greatness in one doesn't necessarily translate into greatness into another.



I typed out the above supposing both Aaron Paul and Johnathan banks are complete rookies with VO work, so I double-checked and this is not the case.
