Yup. The genetics of the kids is as close as siblings, far closer than cousins. Honestly, in a lot of the world cousins still bang and have very few problems with their children, these two were prolly just two horny cousins that had no idea they were a genetic pipe bomb.

You're correct, somehow it's become a common misconception that "inbreeding" creates dumb or deformed offspring. That's not how genetics work at all. Like you said, both parents have to share a common recessive gene for the child to have that particular trait. And that trait can be good or bad.

I do business with Hasidic Jews. They can’t breed out genetic issues because they “keep it in the family”. I have never met one that isn’t short and chubby with coke bottle glasses. And many GSP have genetic diseases. Genetic diversity is paramount to a healthy community. But in many cultures cousin fucking is quite acceptable.
