Here is Felix Mitchell attempting to wear them at UFC 3. He enter the Octagon with them on. But after Ken Shamrock walked out, Big John made Felix remove the gloves. The rules was changed by the next event allowing Melton Bowmen to wear his gloves.

Felix Mitchell wore a pair of MMA gloves at UFC 3, but big John McCarthy made him take them off before the fight started vs Shamrock. The rule was changed by the next event.

Good pull. Not many people these days know shit about the old days. For me, this is part of the fun of watching the early events: They're literally inventing a sport on the fly, event by event. At UFC 1, Ken was pissed that he couldn't wear his wrestling shoes. Fast-forward to UFC 3, he's got his shoes on but Felix Mitchell can't wear his gloves, even though Art Jimmerson wore a fucking boxing glove at UFC 1. Absolute chaos, but so much fun

What’s crazy too is Big John McCarthy said fighters were making fun of Tank backstage for requesting gloves! He said at the end of the night nobody said a word

Well, when you nearly kill your first opponent, nobody's going to be eager to call you a pussy

Still one of the great KOs, fucking hockey style one hand grabbing and the other slugging. As Rogan used to say, those "baby gloves" protect the hand of the guy throwing the punches, not the head of the guy getting punched!

These were amazing! Much better than any crap you can get nowadays

I actually think these Boxergenics are better than the new UFC gloves. Definitely the quality because new UFC polyurethane are absolute trash. But there are some legit companies out there that makes MMA gloves. Isami makes top end gloves for RIZIN. In my opinion they are the best glove currently in use.

I have mentioned Bowen on here based on my memory and someone has repeatedly “corrected “ me that he was wearing weightlifting gloves. Thanks for the screenshot. I had no clue about Felix. Awesome to hear random bits about those first tournaments.
