Thanks for that, I'll try it. To be fair, GIMP is incredible for the price (free).
I also never gave it much a chance. I had used Paint.NET for a while beforehand, and really disliked the GUI gimp had....but it was like nearly 10 years ago too. Each window being separate bothered me. I used Paint.NET for some very low-level game design and was content with it.
Eventually I needed support for more in depth editing (Alpha Channels specifically), and so had to acquire Photoshop through...unscrupulous methods. GIMP is great because it's legitimately free and supports some of the high-level things Photoshop has, but once I got the shop there was no going back. I've always used CS3, had CS5 for a bit (absolutely loved the content-aware functions they added) but it was an alpha version and crashed occasionally. Wanted stability again.
