Inspired by the "armbar thread"...is the high elbow guillotine the most effective sub in street?

Your opponent taps quick from it. You can really screw up someone's trachea for awhile. Others subs take too long. Thoughts on other moves.

Possibly. Probably one of the lowest risks subs in a street fight

Though people don't tap in the street so you got to be prepared to completely feck them up and also hope they don't get a chance at that arm or they will take a chunk out of it, agree it is lower risk than some but still not great for street. I have said in a few threads and very few seem to take notice, most scumbags that want to start rarely do this without mates around, even if they seem on their own. Taking it to the ground, even quickly is a risk and leaves you vulnerable to others attacking you, keep it standing if you can and be aware of your surroundings.

Reminded me of this… not exactly a street fight, but it did turn into a shoot…

Didn't this work for Bas in a street fight against 3 dudes? Choked the first one on the ground while dodging the strikes from the other two then he stood up and proceeded to beat the shit out of those two.

Bulldog choke would be pretty effective in a street fight.

lol.

I don't think so. Air chokes take longer to render the opponent unconscious than blood chokes, and the guillotine tires out your arms easily (several MMA fighters have lost fights because of this when the opponent eventually slipped out). Like someone mentioned above, you have to worry about the opponents' little friends joining in the second you're vulnerable.

Not that I'm in a hurry to test this, but I would think that a joint lock would be the most effective, since you could destroy a limb and take your attacker out of the fight immediately; all the sudden screaming might scare off his friends, too. The problem with that, and any submission, would be taking the fight to the ground without them kicking your teeth in.

I'd say rear naked choke is about the only one to pull off on the street unless your BJJ is really high level. You could end it quick, and avoid strikes to head and groin.
There's a great gracie breakdown about fighting multiple attackers.

No. You would get punched in the groin ala joe son.
