The injured list is getting ridiculous. And so many just before the scheduled date of the fight. I get that MMA is a bitch of a sport and the training is multi-faceted and gruelling, but MMA fighters and gyms are doing something wrong. At their level, with their experience, missing out on rifle shots is madness.

And I feel for the UFC, having to deal with all of these massive bouts being cancelled at short notice. Some of the biggest fights this year have been lost or rescheduled due to injuries.

I hope gyms and fighters start to really rethink their training practices and are humble enough to accept that they're doing something wrong and be willing to change their approach big time.

Both Cain and Weidman get injured and pulled from undeserved title rematches. There is a God.

But he only acts when there isn't enough time to give another guy a proper camp.

Too much strength and conditioning training nonsense, rather than actual skills training. most of the reason for the injuries.

A lot of the fighters like to over complicate their training, so no surprise they pull out a lot.

Said the same thing.

Could say Conor got an undeserved rematch with Nate, but he decided to pull himself out.

Really he should have been defending his title at 200.

I think the hard sparring is part of the problem. It sounds like most of these guys continue to spar hard and aggressive until the fight is a week or so away. And while it is great to bring in all the best to work on things like grappling. Rolling with Olympic wreslers can certainly cause injuries.

I don't think it's any difference in training intensity between now and the days of Chuck / Randy / Tito. The difference I think is back in those days they would just deal with the injury and fight through it instead of waiting for the sun and moon align and be 100% peaked on fight night.

Train hard , fight easy . Classic motto.
It comes with the job.
In before idiots come claiming PEDs are the answer

We overreact a lot on Sherdog but this is the only subject we all seem to agree on. This shit is out of control.

Because he's not happy with the lack of blood sacrifice in the Cyborg Smith match.

Injuries are fun too. Rockhold will be able to rip Weidman a new one (e.g. when you lost your first you used injury as excuse, now you're straight up scared and running while claiming injuries) in his typical awkward as F manner, and Weidman will be forced to get butthurt and lash out with a long and incoherent rant, preferably on the Mermaid Hour. We still have good popcorn, it's all good.

It's karma to the UFC for pulling fighters out of huge main events for missing a lousy press conference, at least those fighters show up to the fight.

What goes around comes around UFC!!

It's without question the worst part of the sport. Just ridiculous the rate at which this happens.

On the one plus side, I don't think weidman deserved an immediate rematch.

Robbie Lawler stopped sparring and just trains technique and cardio full time. He's been better than he ever has been and is never injured. The Chute Box full contact sparring is bad news.
