Every once in a while, people will unintentionally say something that outs them as believing something so incredibly wrong I can't imagine how they came to believe that, often to hilarious effect.

Once I was having dinner with my sister, and we were having some coconut shrimp as an appetizer. We're a couple shrimp in when she stops and goes "Want to know something funny? I used to think that shrimp were little animals that swam around in the ocean. Now I know they grow on plants."

Another one: My college buddy and I were walking through campus one gusty day with a girl who lived in our building. Suddenly she says "Its so windy today! That makes sense though with all these trees around." ...she thought wind somehow came from trees!

One other time: I was hanging out at my friends house in highschool, talking to his sister. I forget exactly how this came up, but she said something about a man's "ballsacks". She didn't know that there is only one "sack" not two separate structures, so I showed her................................a webpage about it. She was blown away.

Anyone else hear someone say something incredibly, hilariously misguided like this?

inb4 Jebus.

Your sister sounds retarded...can I have her number?

Islam is the religion of peace.
The Earth is flat.
Dinosaur bones were put on Earth "to test our faith."

To many times to count.

The most recent was a impromptu talk with a young lady about empowerment of grass roots democracy, when out of nowhere she starts on about some guru online that "when injected with poison, he can cause his blood to neutralize it with the power of mind and breathing techniques" quickly followed up with a "true, because science" comment.

I don't usually find this humorous, but rather depressing. Although, in this case, due to the combination of her beauty, as well as profound stupidity, I found myself oddly aroused.

"Donald Trump will help america."
"Muhammed was Jesus' brother."
"Nuclear is a type of mineral found deep in the earth."
"Always Sunny in Philadelphia isn't funny"

Top 4 I've ever heard.

Huh, the third one with the trees was like a deja vu. I'm certain I had that conversation with someone once. Maybe my gf, but I'm not sure. Is there any science behind this or is this as stupid as it sounds?

The one way I could see someone arriving at this is that in school you are taught that trees produce oxygen, so maybe some people take that literally to mean oxygen is blowing out of trees in the form of wind?

They must not be alone though... One of the top autocomplete results on google for "do trees make" is "wind"

I used to think that about trees as a child and I posted it in another thread.

Oh, and "Islam is a more violent religion than Christianity" is hilarious to me.

Some other good ones are;

What do you mean our sun is a star?
Chem trails bro! (this one is far to common)
What do you mean we don't live in a democracy?

Recently, historically, or cumulatively?
If your real name is Sam Harris, I will debate this.

Europeans and Asians have neanderthal DNA due to Nephilim coming down in UFOs and altering our genome.

Dinosaurs living along humans because of a couple of accounts of big lizards and some cave paintings.

Giants built the Egyptians pyramids, the proof is the ancient Egyptian drawings that depict people (with fox (wolf?) heads) being much larger in proportion to their drawings of pyramids.

The Earth was repopulated by a single digit # of families over a couple of thousands years. The families also contained all the DNA and alleles to make up a ridiculous amount of racial diversity on the planet.

All "kinds" of animals lived on a boat for over a month without any conflict between natural prey/predators.

I might have gotten trolled, but this is what I've read on sherdog.
