In your opinion, if OSP defeats Jon Jones, would that interim title be more legit than DC's title?

See thread title for topic.

Personally, I think people don't give DC enough credit for his wins over Rumble and Gustaffson. He deserves more respect than what people give him, but I can totally see how this might be the first time in UFC history that many fans will feel the interim champion is more legit than the actual belt holder.

probably depends how it happens. Flash knockout by OSP--->ring rust etc for Jon Jones. But a real good showing by OSP (unlikely) and yeah, a new beast will be crowned.

Depends on how Jones looks really, but yeah it probably would be since OSP actually beat Jones and Cormier didn't.

But come on now, OSP isn't going to win.

1. GREAT Q!

2. YES, I would consider OSP as the "practical champ", or the "street-cred-champ".

3. I agree that most dont give DC enough credit.

4. the problem is, MOST dont give Jones enough credit either- he is virtually undefeated, against as good of competition as anyone (cue Rogan-"murderer's row"-although i would rather that he fought half of them 6 years earlier)

I respect the belt worn by DC, but being the only man to ACTUALLY BEAT JJ IS WORTH A STRAP IN OF ITSELF.

No. Jones isn't the champion. DC is.

We all know OSP would get ragdolled by DC even if he somehow lands a lucky ko on jones

No...

No matter what ppl think, or say Cormier is the legit champion. He had nothing to do with Jones being stripped, and ppl need to get over it. That's on the UFE.

He would be the interim champ, with a chance to take the real belt in his next fight.

If Jones really is a GOAT candidate ... Ppl have nothing to worry about. He will be interim, and will have his chance to unify in his next fight.

It's actually pretty simple.

I wonder if Jones could keep it together if he lost to OSP. He is barely holding it together now.

He would be the first person to beat Bones, which might be a bigger deal in the grand scheme of things rather than the title BS. DC is still the champ, but no man has ever beaten Jones. That would be large. I don't get too wrapped up in the idea of titles and whatnot, it's more about who you beat, IMO. To answer your question, maybe. DC got his title through interim status, OSP would have beaten the previous undisputed title holder for his interim title. That's actually a really good and difficult question. I guess it would just depend on the person. For me, no. They both would have won their titles through interim status, but DC has defended his. But I could easily be swayed in the other direction because, as you can see, I'm wishy washy on this one.

Definitely, I actually started this thread and left for a bit to go do a few chores and I actually ended up thinking about exactly this.

It's been awhile since that crazy streak Jon went through a slew of former LHW champs, so people have definitely forgotten it to some extent.

Nah I'd consider it to be an unusual circumstance and wouldn't consider anyone the real champ an DC VS OSP letters

No it wouldnt. good question though

of course it would. everyone knows jbj is the real champ

there won't be a skateboard to give OSP the upset victory. Jones by oblique kick and spinning elbow to the dome as OSP goes to rub his knee.

I wonder if he lost to OSP, if he would say fuck it and move to HW.

i would agree with everyone saying "NO",

its not DC's fault Jones got stripped,

DC won that belt fair and square, and i would agree with all of you

IF JONES HADNT DECISIVELY BEAT DC LIKE A THIEF.

I bet money on DC, and rooted for DC, and thought for sure after his showing in the Strikeforce GP he would kill Jones.

then the fight happened, and Dc even lost the wrestling.

Great question.

Yes, I would consider OSP the true champ. He would be the lineal champ.

DC is only the champ on paper. Everybody, including DC see's Jones as the true champ. Thats why the first thing DC did when he won the paper belt was call out Jones. He knows no one will see him as the champ unless he beats Jones.

OSP would be seen as the real champ if he somehow beats Jones.

This flash KO vs Good showing concept can be applied to Aldo and Conor too. The Flash KO means way less than if he had rag dolled Aldo the way he ragDolled Siver.

Anyone that doesn't understand that Jon is the real champion is a seriously worthless F-tard. With that said MMAth is more worthless than BMP on a Brahma Bull my friend.

While OSP would have indeed (in this case which I highly doubt) beaten the real ma (Jon), it still has nothing to do with how he would matchup against Proxyman.
