In the last 5 years who's the best stand-up comedian?

Whoa. First time I see him, and my youtube and insta feeds have a lot of standup. I wonder how he became the it thing.

I guess he got big because not too many asian stand up comedians who have a decent stand up like him. So he represents those people who are looking for that type of humor he is providing.

Oh yeah I remember Spielberg giving him his support. So that helped.

<cruzshake> no. What does it mean?

Befitting word choice, as it was your literal interpretation of a joke that went over your head that started this whole interaction with you commenting on something you literally chose to not understand.

which is why I keep telling you that you are acting (figuratively) like a retard.

I concur.

Yup yup.

I figured I was running a risk, throwing out tard bait like that, but I was pretty confident that there would be at least one Louis fan in the thread who would get the joke, and that makes it all worthwhile to me.

I actually love how he will play all angles on that, going as far as to shame or embarrass others for anti Mexican statements

(@ 1min. "Because Mexicans")

Or... flip the perspective e and make fun of his dad's "free range uncut raw organic local Mexican dick that looked like a farmers market yam

.: 9:30 - 11min

Meanwhile.... the only reason any of Louis' family ever lived in Mexico is because some grandfather of his figured that " no one in Mexico would know what a Jew looked like", thus making it a great place to escape Nazi jew hunters.

If you have, as I have... watched all his specials to piece the whole thing together, it's a beautiful mix of history, irony, nuance, etc. Great story telling and Louis has that signature ability to morph his own perspective on a story to find funny often somewhat dark and fucked up takes on things.

So yeah, a few people are butthurt about me quoting Louis (calling his mother a whore)

But... It's like people cutting babies heads and rolling them down staircases in Mexico

<Fedor23>eh.. you're always gonna have that.
what are ya gonna do?

First, for the web illiterates, like youself: "iirc" = if I remember correctly.

Second, I hadn' been aware of Louie's joke about his mom being a whore. That's why I reacted that way. I mentioned him being a mexican as I had heard it from some interview. I simply trolled @zapataxiv because of his username.

You jump to conclusions way too fast to consider yourself an intelligent person.

The best one I've seen live I have no idea what his name is. Some redheaded British guy. The best one I can name that I've seen live is Dave Attell

My man I am entertained. Thank you for that and have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the fights tonight

@jeff7b9 I could work today....or I could get a box of cheap wine and buy/watch Horace and Pete for $12.99. I think the only full episode I've seen is the one where he bangs a tranny but he doesn't know it until (s)he tells hime whilst he's making them breakfast the next morning.

Jimmy Carr, while not the best by any stretch, deserves a little love. The dude is funny & raunchy but also intelligent and super quick on his feet

Dunno the first one but love Matt .
Matt sucks.
If 65% of your show is some girl in Iowa in the middle of the crowd talking about red flags and some guy she met at Target.
Your material probably isnt that good.

Best of the last 5 years is probably Bill Burr and Colin Quinn. Chappelle and Louis are right behind him. Gillis is emerging.

Stand up is different than just "funny comedians".
If were talking podcasts, radio shows, stand up, etc...Burr, guys like Jim Norton and Rich Vos and Quinn as well, are funnier than everyone else.
Chappelle isn't very funny in non stand up situations.

Brad Williams and Matt Rife.
Shane gillis
Admittedly, I don't watch a lot of standup, but these two would have been my answer.

Matt's audience work is the best I've ever seen. Chappelle and Burr are both on my personal Rushmore, but my favorite standup from them hasn't been in the 2020's. Although some of it has still been incredible. Dave's turned as much into a sociological philosopher as he is a comic, lately. But then, in a way, I suppose he always was that. No matter what, it's interesting just to hear him speak.

I saw Shane for the first time tonight, after being a fan for the last 6-ish years. He's a "Rockstar" while also just being a "dude". Great set, and even when he falls off, just having the persona of being a chill "everyman" he'll keep going strong.
