I hope he isn't seriously considering that and maybe he was just talking about distant future possibilities. Conor is a huge star and is getting some special treatment because of the numbers he generates. I get that and I think we all get that. But giving him any fight he wants because of it INCLUDING a title fight in a division that he has fought once in and LOST is ridiculous. IMO he needs to defend his belt from all obvious contenders before messing around in LW, but that's just me. He doesn't even remotely deserve a title shot at LW outside of popularity and money arguments.

Edit: For anyone nitpicking, Yes Conor has fought at LW BEFORE coming to the UFC. Which doesn't change any of my points. I don't know why people care so much about that. Do you think he should get a title shot at LW in the UFC based on that? I hope not. Also the Nate fight wasn't at LW either which again reinforces my original points. But I personally give Conor the credit for fighting a high ranked LW. The fact that it was at 170 doesn't change much for me. Conor wouldn't get much credit in the WW division for beating Nate Diaz.

Conor shouldn't be getting a shot at the Lightweight title coming off of a loss, even though that loss was technically at 170 pounds. The UFC could make that case even though it'd be pretty weak. Fighters have gotten title shots off of losses before but it's a bad practice unless the loss was very controversial.

I can think of three possible future fights that will extend Conors losing streak.
RDA
Eddie Alvarez
Frankie Edgar

Conor didn't fight at 155, he fought at 170. He even wanted/wants the Diaz rematch at 170.

But yes, he shouldn't be granted a LW title shot because a 155er beat him at 170.

Conor never fought at 155

Good point. He fought a 155er which is how most people are going to look at it. I wonder how much credit Conor would get in the WW division for beating Nate Diaz at 170? Nate isn't a WW fighter. This whole situation is just dumb.

I have absolutely zero problem watching Canor lose as often as possible. So go ahead and give him RDA, I say.

It is. At first I didn't even want them to rematch but now I just want it to happen to get it over with

If he get's title shot at 155 in his next fight It would be hilarious. Hilarious dumb shit.

Does it really matter who he fights? Once he beat Aldo he was at the end of the line. Frankie beats him at 145 and I would argue he's barely a top 10 fighter at lightweight. Cerrone, RDA, Eddie Alvarez, Ferguson, Barboza and Pettis all beat him easy. Especially in a 5 round fight. Let's just get it over with.

I don't see how you can conclude Frankie isn't potentially a top 10 LW

He never clearly lost the belt

I'm talking about Conor.
Oh.

Well yea hes probably not

Diaz was one of his best matchups in the top 10, because Hes stubborn enough to stand with Conor and trade.

Still won fairly easily

I think Conor could beat Cerrone though. Maybe Barboza just because he can't take a shot. Against strikers he has a good chance to win

None of you nerds have any say on what the UFC does so stop saying what Dana does is wrong. It's their company and they can do what they want.

If conor fights RDA its because hes fucking scared shitless to lose his belt.

He reaks of fear

I think RDA obliterates him. Let them fight, it would be fun to watch. And if Conor actually wins, the LW division becomes even more crazy competitive than it already is.

I dont see Pettis beating him. Infact I think Connoor can still beat the top Lighweights but realllly struggles with the tall tangy fighters aka Diaz and maybe Cerrone.

I actually said ages ago that I don't think Conor vs Nate is going to happen and instead Eddie pulls out and Conor fights RDA and it gets promoted to 200

With it being a late replacement they would think the fans wouldn't care

It's a win win situation for the ufc

Conor getting a title shot at 155 at this point is insane.
