In hindsight would Nate Diaz have had a good shot at taking the title from Woodley?

Maybe but the crushing power of Usman is what took Woodleys soul
 
Because MMA is boxing
Woodley would just prop Nate against the cage for the whole fight

What about that stupid fight makes you think Jake Paul beats a Diaz brother in a boxing match? Much less does significant damage. He looked like garbage and was sucking wind after about 7 minutes. Nate is past prime himself and is one of the most overrated fighters of the last decade, but he would still work Paul. Jake was just lucky enough to fight a basketball player, possibly the worst striker in modern UFC history and a 40 yr old completely washed Frozen One who needs a hypnotist to learn how to release a punch again. And Jake still barely did anything to him. Incredible selection of opponents really. Jake cannot box.

Any version of Nate destroys today's woodley. Actually most of woodleys opponents would beat him today. That's how bad he is. Something happened to him like he got really timid, passive and weak. it's as if tyrone went and did ERT estrogen replacement therapy and got neutered.
 
No he woudl not, and he wouldn't even be able to ebat people to get to the shot to evens tart with.

We really gonna disrespect Woodley like this? I know him losing to Paul is bad, but you aren't doing yourself any favors by acting like a casual. Prime Twood destroys Nate worse than Bendo did.

You aren't that new to Sherdog that you shouldn't have learned about the Joe Rogan effect influence over these boards by now. Usman is the greatest of all time, T Wood, Hughes and GSP are can crushers. Once Jake Paul comes to MMA and knocks out Usman then Usman will be considered a can as well and Jake will be in GOAT talks...just how it is around here.
 
Keep in mind Woodley is the same guy that blasted out Robbie Lawler and destroyed Darren TIll. He dropped Wonderboy twice in their first fight (which won fight of the night...ppl remember thier second fight and how boring it was and mixed them up and think both fights sucked), and was a dangerous striker.

Woodley from that era, in his prime, would eat Nate up. Nate is a good fighter, and would pose problems, but couldn't beat Woodley.

People acting like they weren't claiming T Wood to have the best boxing in UFC at 170 not so long ago...you just have to look at older threads here to see how quickly people are trying to cover their tracks now that he just got smoked by Jake Paul.
 
Nate has so many holes in his game.

He’s made out to be a great boxer even though he’s only good in the pocket trading punches and relying on his chin and wearing people down (that’s not good boxing ). He has no footwork, (both Diaz brothers get frustrated if you don’t stand directly in front of them and trade).

He doesn’t check leg kicks and has been destroyed by them.

He’s not a great wrestler.

Still for some reason his name is put in the mix with people he has no business being with.

Jake's a novice boxer, can box a little bit.

Nate Diaz can't box to save his life and would get murdered by Jake Paul in a boxing match.

It's not about Jake being a good boxer, it's about Nate being a total bum.
 
If it was just striking then yeah, but I assume Woodley would mix in takedowns in which case he'd win an easy decision

Clearly if you watched that fight the other night and think Jake can box “a little” but Nate can’t box at all and is a bum in comparison, you don’t really know what you are watching. And this is coming from somebody who doesn’t like Nate and thinks he is one of the most overrated MMA fighters in recent memory

I don't think ND boxing is that great
He is slow, no head movement, has an OK 1-2, with no power
