Race is a big deal in this country. We are sensitive to it and feel strongly about it. How one feels about race can often be viewed as a significant reflection of a person's overall character. But how did we get this way? The answer is simple and most importantly...specific. The reason race is such a big deal is because of the ugly history between native Caucasians and Africans. This is important to understand. The reason we have civil rights legislation, affirmative action, and other things is specifically a response to the experience of our native, black population. White people realized that they had treated black people like crap and wanted to atone and to a degree make up for it. And all of that is fine and dandy.

But here is where things have taken a turn for the worse and infected this country with an ideological disease that is potentially fatal. We as a country have since expanded this desire to atone and make up for past sins against our native population to encompass ALL non-white people, native or otherwise. It's no longer about addressing specifically what happened to black people and how that affects us in the present day. It's now about opening up our culture and resources to all non-americans to the point where we don't even allow ourselves basic sovereignty let alone culture and identity. It's a completely flawed and warped ideology regarding racism and bigotry that no other culture in the world shares.

At some point in our history we arrogantly deemed our country the "land of opportunity" that everyone in the world should have a right to partake in as if opportunity has no limit. And not only that but if you are an immigrant, thus minority, you get to piggyback off of the black experience and be covered by the same guilty blanket. As a result our country gets drained of resources as poorer immigrants looking for opportunity pour into the country, we lose any kind of consistent culture and identity, we leave ourselves wide open for terrorism, and we stay divided among culture and identity lines.

What was once a noble attempt to atone for past sins has now turned into a terminal disease. Its a disease that effects our politics, economy, our foreign policy, personal interaction and relationships...it literally effects everything. And this disease is so subtle that most people won't even realize we have it until it starts to kill us. If we ever hope to survive and cure this disease there is only one answer...

And that's to Make America Great Again

I like the answer.

I did a teaching camp last weekend, where I got to meet a lot of other Americans, Brits, Irish, Kiwis, etc. who I normally don't hang out with much these days outside of work (I live in Asia now, bear with me).

At one point on our break these teachers started talking about the Oscars. They noted that Chris Rock's joke about Asians wasn't very well done (didn't watch the Oscars, dunno). They went on and on about how the Oscars are an international awards show and should be more diverse. At no point did anyone point out that the Oscars are (a) an American awards show, and (b) supposed to be a meritocratic ceremony. But, whatever.

At one point, a Jewish guy in the group, who by all accounts looks white and is married, said how the Oscars are "supposed to be for everyone, not just white cis-males..." Naturally, I was alarmed that he would use "cis-males" non-ironically, but it was the contempt in his voice when he said that last phrase that made me sit up in my chair. The self-loathing in this guy was so palpable that it hit home again how much this disease has crept into our lives. White guilt has become status quo for many people in the Anglosphere.

It made me all the more ready to support Trump, like the OP. This is our last stand against these types before our culture is erased forever.

i'd somewhat agree. as you probably know, "race" as we think of it today, didn't exist prior to the 19th century. we invented it in order to justify slavery, and the things that were having to be done in order to keep slavery alive. this, of course, is when we start getting legal definitions for race, that would define american culture afterwards.

This is important to understand. The reason we have civil rights legislation, affirmative action, and other things is specifically a response to the experience of our native, black population. White people realized that they had treated black people like crap and wanted to atone and to a degree make up for it. And all of that is fine and dandy.

for some whites it is about FEELING better and a guilt that they hold for some reason. for most who support such policies, though, i think they genuinely feel these are policies that will solve specific problems, rather than the legislative equivalent to an ongoing "i'm sorry" card.

It's now about opening up our culture and resources to all non-americans to the point where we don't even allow ourselves basic sovereignty let alone culture and identity. It's a completely flawed and warped ideology regarding racism and bigotry that no other culture in the world shares.

the idea that we've had some uniform culture and identity for most of our history is a complete myth. take the most flag waving patriot alive today, and send them back to whatever you feel the good ole days in america to be, and they would be a fish out of water. before the ink was even dry on the constitution, the culture war had begun. what is america? what should it be? one of our founders literally shot the other over these types of questions.

i think one amazing asset this country has generally had is an ability to assimilate people. assimilate them and put them to work in our country. we've had nativist uprisings in the US, and have seen things like the famous "no dogs no irish" sign over and over again. but on the whole, in this country a complete foreigner can come closer to being eventually accepted as authentic member of our society than in most any other country id wager. this is one problem we're seeing in europe with terrorism right now. in some of these countries, immigrants are asked....BEGGED....to come in for cheap labor, but can never become full citizens. they are alienated and marginalized from the beginning, by law.

At some point in our history we arrogantly deemed our country the "land of opportunity" that everyone in the world should have a right to partake in as if opportunity has no limit. And not only that but if you are an immigrant, thus minority, you get to piggyback off of the black experience and be covered by the same guilty blanket. As a result our country gets drained of resources as poorer immigrants looking for opportunity pour into the country,

in the 19th century and then in the 1920's, we invited immigrants in and put them to work. if anything, the rest of us were piggybacking off of them. manhattan was literally built by irish and native americans. the railroads. so inviting immigrants in does not inherently mean that you have a desire to pay for their trip and existence here.

we lose any kind of consistent culture and identity, we leave ourselves wide open for terrorism, and we stay divided among culture and identity lines.

how can you be pushing a "consistent culture and identity," and not have this lead to divisions among culture and identity lines, as you say? i mean, if one culture and identity is valued more than others, does that not inherently put divisions into your society?

is this an april fool's post?

"Multiculturalism" was designed to force people to self segregate and distrust one another. It's the first step in divide and conquer. Get people to chop themselves up into little groups and you don't have to do it for them.

Multiculturalism basically boils down to this :

- come into our country, form closed communities, don't integrate, it doesn't matter since you are here to spur population growth. It doesn't matter if you are educated or not since you will consume goods (that are taxable) and provide cheap labor; that is the only reason you are here.

Multiculturalism it its current form is highly hypocritical.

people said the same thing when german and irish immigrants flocked here by the millions. where are they now?

He also said native Caucasian. He's talking about people, both Black and White, who were born in and have never lived anywhere other than the US.
Got it.
It seems like the word "native" doesn't apply to any of the immigrants, white or black though

Unerlated circumstances. That goes back mostly to the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century. The country was being built back then.

You also cannot compare western christians' integration in a predominantly western christian society with the integration of much different other people (which currently makes up a huge portion of the immigration in western democracies.

Yeah, Liberals have really corrupted language to the point where you can't just say what it is that you're talking about without causing some sort of offense to some one, so you have to use a string of really vague terms like "none Native/Pre-European Tribal peoples, Native to the Americas, person of Color" instead of just saying "Black Americans". You can't even say "African Americans" any more, because there are so many legitimate first generation African immigrants living in the US.

the protestant US at that time would strongly strongly disagree with you about the ease of catholic irish assimilation lol. catholic vs. protestant isnt that big of a deal in the US today. i wonder why...

so multiculturalism will only work if your country is being built?

Yah, a lot of black Americans are "African" in the same sense that I'm "Irish", i.e. removed by at least a few generations.

Exactly. I'm also Irish. I'm also half Czech. The city that my entire family line, my direct lineage and the families that married into it, if that makes sense, came from in Czechoslovakia was destroyed by the Nazis 40 years before I was born. So I'm not really all that "Czech". I'm an American, just like everyone else.
