People underestimate him in this matchup I think.

First of all, he's huge for a MW. I think he's the biggest MW out there currently, even bigger than RDR.

Second he can grapple and wrestle just fine, he has a better ability than DDP in this regard so I doubt we'd see this kind of domination. If Usman can make it even thanks to his wrestling after surviving the first round berserker assault, I think Imamov can too.

Third his boxing is pretty good, underrated I'd say. Not super high volume but his combination are solid.

The biggest flaws I'm seeing is that his gas tank is not that good, he was very suspect in the third round against Allen, and even against Buckley I was surprised that he slowed down a little bit in the end (well this one was ages ago to be fair).

Other flaw I'm seeing is yes he can put people out as he did Adesanya but I don't think he can put Khamzat out, so while he's good defensively for this matchup, his only bet is to outlast Khamzat and win a decision.

I'd say it's 60/40 in favour of Khamzat but Imamov still has a sizable chance.

I think Imavov's grappling has come along nicely during his UFC tenure. He's not the same dude flailing about and getting held down by Phil Hawes.

But I always question the ability of these technical snipers who often accept countering off the back foot to fend off true hard-nosed chain-wrestlers. Imavov can stuff & outwork the likes of Brendan Allen or Caio or Dolidze, sure -- dudes who strike their way into range at a measured pace, shoot, fail to secure the TD or subsequent top position, then back off and reset to start all over again. But someone who's going to shoot from the opening bell and aggressively pursue the TD before following it up with relentless mat returns and top pressure? It's a different game and a different challenge in my opinion.

Kinda like with Leon. He was fine at stuffing most of the division's lesser grapplers, but guys who came with the gameplan to drive him back and drag him down right away before suffocating him had waaaaay more success despite him previously seeming to have shown himself as a decent counter-wrestler. I think we'll see something similar here with Imavov and Khamzat.

Damnit guys come on let a brother hope for a fight

Not a brave take here, but I could see Imanov getting rag-dolled in the first. . . . or I can see him surviving and defending *enough* to start turning things around, and even win. Neither would surprise me, although I somewhat expect the former more.

Imavov is not big at all for MW , he is one of the ligthest . He cut a very little amount of weight .
That's why he is so fast .

Brendan Allen wrestlefucked him for a round. Though admittedly he did a great job of adjusting, that that happened doesn't inspire much confidence in his chances vs Chimaev.

Yeah others have also commented that, I honestly didn't know that. I thought he was heavier because visually he looks huge.

I just want to know if I can bet that Imavov will eye poke Chimaev at least once in the fight...

I don t see Imavov posing a bigger threat than DDP, far from it. Anything can happen in MMA but this should be a -300 fo Khamzat, if not -400.

Fuck ift his is going to be Khamzats one fight a year, its going to be so underwhelming.

At least get him to fight Strickland or someone more interesting.
Stricklan is more interesting ? Yeah maybe with his outrageous statements and his brutal beatdowns of Youtubers on camera, but the dude‘s fights tend to be very monotonous jabfests.

I have said this before but I favor Fluffy to beat Khamzat out of the whole division.

LOL he is not a big MW. He has a good frame but he is pretty light.

On the feet he is 100x better than Chimaev for sure. The question is can he keep it there? Also Imavov does not fight that good on his backfoot.
