I'm way too old do this seriously but...

I'd like to become an expert on Ancient history, particulary in Mesopotamia, Israel, and Egypt. So, I'm doing it. I just read about it nonstop. I may not get the credibility of someone who went to school for it, but I'll satisfy my own academic desires.

A few weeks ago my childhood friend came over. Known him since first grade. We've played basketball together our whole lives. I leave for grad school and stop playing. He started working double shifts and stopped playing. Both of us haven't played in years and spent hours taking about playing basketball. Since then we've been motivating each other and I've been playing twice a week And have much less anxiety/ more happy as a result.

Guitar guitar guitar guitar

Honestly I just wanna be able to play some cardigans and letters to Cleo songs

Well then tomorrow go get yourself a guitar and start working on the very basics you can find online. Once you plateau start taking lessons.

Just do it. I was stil boxing at 35, learned Chinese at 31....because I moved to China.

Right on. I'm not planning on taking everything at once, I've started running, shadow boxing, and doing some abstract math along with what gets thrown at me in work.

Once you've satisfied your general curiosity and built a significant base you should focus on a specific research topic and develop an argument. I'm not sure how things work on that side of academia but once you've done that you can work towards getting it published or working towards a research position.

TS on the drive home today:

Pretty much except this is about leisure time activities and not abandoning my career.

That's good to hear.

I'd pretty much written off my childhood hobbies as a child as being silly time wasters that really held me back in life but now I'm starting to think I was way off. They kept me happy, in a good social circle, and out of trouble, what more could I ask for?

What do I want?

I want to write a hemp cookbook using hemp ink,and I want to build houses out of hemp for the homeless, and I want to make clothes out of hemp for the world, and I just...I want to smoke some of the hemp.Just a little. Just......a little.
