I'm surprised Gus's name isn't being looked into.

If Rumble isn't accepting the Jones fight I'm a little surprised Gus isn't attempting to throw his name into mix for a shot at Jones.

Would be a great way to leap frog some contenders after 2 back to back losses, and coming in as a late replacement justify's him getting to fight Jones.

Supposedly he's retired and I think he's also having surgery soon or already had it

he turned it down as far as i know

Guy is basically retired, and you can't really blame him.

I doubt Gus wants to get in the ring with Jones right now.

Jones will be looking at that white face and imagine that it's officer Brown

Wasn't that some joke?

Hasn't been confirmed (that I've seen) that it wasn't. I will say though that it came out on April fools but again I haven't seen anything to the contrary

I think Gus himself posted some video about it being a joke.

Gus may as well be retired with his yearly "I don't have the motivation to do this," comments.

Wow TS!

Fake interim belt with the champion on the same card and now a guy who is 0-2 in his last two fights contending for the championship.

It's a good idea, in peoples mind (minus the hardcore Jones fanboys) Gus is still "that white dude who beat the shit out of JJ, watch that fight dude!", that fight was extremely close, they both won 2 rounds and everything comes down to round 1, which was basically an even round...

Yeah he lost his last 2 fights, a split decision to current champ DC and got KO'd by Rumble, it's not like he lost to bums.

But yeah, bad timing, vacations. Who will save this card?

I am surprised. Don't know why anyone wouldn't want to see those two go at it again. He'd have absolutely nothing to lose and everything to gain so I would think he'd be desperate for the fight.

Definitely the one I'm hoping for.

This would be a terrible move for Gus. He needs to take some mid tier fights, make some changes to his game, get some wins and make another run. Losing another high profile fight, would not do him any favors. And a trained jones on short notice? He would not have much of a chance.

Well to be frank, DC is the one with the fake belt. And again if Rumble isn't accepting it's not like there's a definitive contender out there in LHW outside of DC and Rumble.

And I really hate the "vacationing" reasoning. So was Nate Diaz. Opportunity knocks you better answer.

Where's the hungry fighters in the shadows lurking ala Mr. T in Rocky III? Even veteran Mark Hunt at 40 years young shows the hunger that should be in every 20 something year old competing.

Has Gus even won any fights of late?
