In this interview Ronda destroys the gender argument when it comes to her pay compared to Floyd Mayweather. The bottom line is that Floyd is 10 years older than Ronda and started his career in 1996 and has 49 fights. Ronda started in 2010 and has 13 fights. What Ronda could have gone on to say if this interviewer had allowed her to do so is that the UFC is as close to a true meritocracy as you're going to find. Yes they are ruthless when it comes to lower ranked fighters, but what matters to them is profit. If you drive revenue you will get paid, male or female. The primary issues that UFC fighters are dealing with is that the sport is relatively immature and some consider it so brutal that it's distasteful to their delicate sensibilities. So boxing has a built in fanbase where MMA is still fighting to earn that kind of recognition. Ronda is doing fine, and I appreciate that she's not one of those females using their XX chromosomes as a license to complain about everything in the world including not earning $100m+ per fight. Oh also... that money simply does not exist. Even if the UFC wanted to pay Ronda Floyd-type money, they can't do it. The money just isn't there. Someone needs to explain basic capitalism to this interviewer. I was head-shaking and face-palming throughout.
