I'm new to betting and I'm scared that I might get addicted

I use tapology to look at fighters page and fight events only. I don't use it for betting. Btw, I never even knew tapology has a betting thing going on.

Noo, not betting on tapology. Just picking fights.

There will be some very painful emotional rollercoasters, like betting Carwin over Lesnar.

In the long run. Never do parlays
Parlays not bad tho tbh. I'll just try to be more smart with it next time. But let's be honest here, if the judges didn't bullshit Camacho from that decision, I would've won $175 by risking only $30. So fk those judges. But Ye, I guess I'll try to bet single fights next time instead. I'm still not ruling out parlays tho.

It's a lot of fun but judging make you want to break shit. You also notice shit during fights you usually don't notice
What do u mean by "you also notice shit during fights you usually don't noticed" ? No disrespect, I just want to no what u mean by that.

I would also say first and foremost: don't do parlays. This sport is so unpredictable that some underdogs will probably win on every fight card. I bet on singles almost exclusively, but the occasional double might occur if I see two big favorites I really believe in.

The next big thing is: never try to win back, what you've lost. This is the sure way to lose in the long run. Even if you have plenty of good nights with a solid profit you can ruin everything so quickly. Betting is a grind really, at least if you're trying to make a profit.

The last thing is: you're gonna get screwed by judges sometimes. It soooo frustrating, but that's just the way it is with fighting. As long as you manage you're money wisely and you know what you're betting on being addicted isn't so bad - I'm probably addicted!

The big thing when betting is: only bet on things you know. When placing a bet you should know the fighters and feel you have a better understanding about the fight than the bookmaker. Remember, some random guy like you and me made those betting lines!

If you really wanna be smart I would suggest that you account for every bet you place. There will be down periods no matter what, so it's smart to be able to go back and see if you have some tendencies when betting. This can be adjusted and you can get better!

I love gambling but if your scared to gamble money youl never get addicted to it. Im certain of it. I have alot of friends who are addicted because theyr not afraid to lose money. They dont even feel a thing even though they lose money. Thats what a real addicted gambler is

Thanks man. Your probably the 3rd dude in this thread saying to not play parlay lol. I guess I'll try to bet on single fights next time. Honestly, I'm still really ruling out Parlay bets just yet tho.

Idk, I'll just try to not get addicted to it and bet smart.

this thread got wastelanded cause you were scared homie

I parlay bet on niko price, Gregor, katlyn, and Camacho. Unfortunately, Camacho lost his fight by robbery. So that was a done deal for me. Then I had around 98$ left in my betting website. I then decided to bet on Dennis by gambling almost the whole $98, and Dennis also lost by robbery :( lol. I then deposit $50 to my betting website just to bet on jacare, and lucky jacare won the fight by ko. I'm basically new to betting and I'm kinda scared and have a feeling i might get addicted to it. Any advice? Lol :)
You made several critical no no moves that will only ever get in trouble in the long run.

Always plan to lose the money, and therefore never play with money you actually need. Only use the amount of money that you'd blow on other entertainment.

Never try to "win back" a loss. Just take the loss and try again next time. If you bring 300 to a casino and lose, dont hit the atm and get 300 more to win back the other 300, just leave and try again next time.

Realize that parlays are for fun only. Don't go overboard, as they almost never win. Hence the nickname "sucker bet". A parlays odds are based on each single bets individual odds, so you aren't getting much more money than if you made an individual bet on each item of the parlay and won them all. In fact, you'd be better off doing that, as then at least if one of the 5 lost, you'd still win the other 4. The only advantage of a parlay is you can invest a smaller sum to win the big sum, but your odds of winning it are the same as if you bet on each one individually and had them all win.

Keep those things in mind. If you're just spending money that you'd waste elsewhere anyways, then it can be fun.

But if you are spending money you need, and /or can't stop yourself from redepositing when you lose, then tread carefully.

Hard to explain. You are so invested in the fights that you notice every little detail of the fight. Maybe that's just me though ha

No problem, it's totally up to you - one of the biggest misconceptions about betting though, in my opinion at least, is that it's an easy way to make a quick buck. Sure, you might get lucky, but if you're gonna win consistently, then luck has nothing to do with it. It really is a grind where you'll have to place a lot of bets week in and week out to succeed. This way you eliminate some of the frustration from bad officiating, since you'll eventually win because of it too and you start to build up a bank roll.

When your roll has grown you can begin to place more money per bet and theoretically, if you keep being as good at it, you'll win more and more money. It's not that sexy, but it's the way to go for sure. Let's say you place 50 $ per bet and over a year you get 55 $ back on that in average. That's really solid, so I wouldn't expect that, but just to make the numbers even. Well, then if you begin to place 100 $ a bet, then you'll double the income by being as good as before. Of course it'll take some time to build up a bank roll, and then there are many ways to manage your bets if you won't just put the same amount on your every bet - not many people do in reality. But discipline, money management and research are the way to go.

I apologize if some of the examples seem too logical so I come of as patronizing or whatever. English is not my first language - I just try to communicate some of the basic principles about betting as simple as possible to make sure that there are no misunderstandings at all, because fundamentals is key in everything you do if you want to beat the bookmakers in the long run. There are so many books on all these concepts like building up a bank roll, how to manage your money etc. - it's like a science and nobody has everything locked down one hundred percent, probably. Hope it helps.
