I'm training at Namsaknois gym for a few months, his technique is something to behold, especially in the clinch! He has some of the slickest sweeps from the clinch that I've seen.

Ask me anything about the gym or training here or the man himself, if you have questions for him, post them and I'll ask him.

Come at me.

Could you post pictures/videos of the gym/training sessiom?

I'll take some tomorrow. The gym itself is very nice, it's spotless! Training is really good, you always have him watching over you and correcting you, can even get on pads with the man too.

Kind of a noob, always wanted to train in Thailand... closest I got is Singapore, since I got family there xD
I always wondered, how do you communicate with the coaches and Thai fighters? Do they speak English or is it just a lot of awkward grunting? XD
Aside from this, is the quality of training much higher than back home (in fact, where are you from)?
As another user suggested, please do post videos. Very interested.

Namsaknoi ( we call him Kru Must) has good English, he can communicate his knowledge really well.

There are 4 trainers on at any one time and class sizes are quite small, it means that you get a lot of attention in class from all the trainers. The level is really high, especially compared to the UK where I train.

The training is challenging, but I like that they work the finer points of muay thai that often get overlooked, like having the correct balance, ring vision, feints, things you cant really get get smashing pads to exhaustion.

What would you like a video of?

kicking doesn't work. So why bother?

Just any footage from the training sessions and/or the facilities would be nice.
What about sparring partners? Are there many foreigners or mostly Thais?
Also, off-topic, I'll be moving to the UK to study and I'm worried Muay Thai isn't really developed there aside from maybe 1-2 famous gyms (like KO). If that is the case, I'll probably get back to boxing... Whereabouts do you train there?

It's mainly foreigners for sparring, there are a few Fighters that live on site, their technique is really good. I think thai Fighters stay in established places, this gym has only been open a few months at the moment.

I train in Manchester, but I have trained around the country. Muay thai is good in the UK, you have your share of teachers with limited knowledge but it's the same in any martial arts I guess. There's a good muay thai scene in the UK.

I heard namsaknoi finally got his title belts back from porpramuk. can you ask him if that is true?

Know of reputable gyms in Bristol? :D

Another question, what is there in the way of accommodation around the gym?

There are a few rooms at the gym, basic but it's all you need. I'm staying a few mins away, it's not expensive. It's well worth it.

Check out the Namsaknoi muay thai Facebook page, there's more content there than I could show you. I messaged them on Facebook before I came and they were super helpful. Namsaknoi even taught me how to ride a motorcycle, really great guy!

I'm debating about visiting Namsaknoi gym. Koh Pha Ngan island is a tourist trap to me. Stuck on an island full of drunk falang, full moon raids, plus prices more than triple there; I felt trapped when I was there since your on a smaller island. Only if this gym was on the land side, instead of being on an isolated party island I would go. Been on Koh Pha Ngan years ago just sight seeing. I thought most gyms on that island were not serious, and baht traps. Let me know if this gym is different.

How is the stay? Training? Price for training? for accommodation?
Oh and like they say above, post some pictures geeze! its so easy to upload by phone now a days.

I assume your training at Namsaknoi is done? I figured I'd bump this thread as summer is coming and I am contemplating going to train in Thailand. Top choices for me are Sitsongpeenong Bangkok, Banchamek Gym and Namsaknoi's.
Could you recap/review your time training and living there? Thanks!

I lived 3 months in Koh Phangan training at Diamond Muay Thai, loved the gym, training and island. You don't notice much of drunk falangs if you live in Thong Sala. It was chill as fuck. Heard great things about Namsaknoi i think i might go there a couple of weeks on my next trip✌

Hi mate, yes my training is up unfortunately, I miss it greatly.

I had such a good time training with Namsaknoi, I've found that my skills, technique and outlook on muay thai have improved greatly.

While it may now have the big name Thais, the classes rarely go above 15 as the gym is new and out in the sticks, you get very close attention by the instructors. With Namsaknoi being who he is, and having connections with the evolve gym, during my time, there was 2 instructors over from evolve. You can only be an instructor there is you have as a minimum, 2 Lumpini titles, or so I've been told, so they are very high level and their patience with us and English is very good.

With the instructors having good English, they can tell you about their techniques in better detail and it really did help me understand the game better. Also, if you hang around after training at the gym, namsaknoi may either sing for you, or give you some real war stories, worth hanging back for either way!

The island is really nice, and there is a lot to do during your time off. It's not a major party place (outside of the full moon party) so take that into account. I went to samui (the closest island) to fight and watch some fights and I kept comparing it negatively to koh phangan.

Any further questions about anything places to stay, things to do etc, just give me a shout!
