I'm about to start a work out routine. I know very little about what to eat and what not to help me put on muscle the quickest. But let me just say now. I eat alot. I probably take in more calories then the average overweight person and I'm still extremely underweight. If you could just point me in the right direction with what I should eat and what I could take to help me put on some muscle I'd really appreciate your help and sorry for wasting anyones time or anything.

Starting Strength....eat like an animal and Drink a gallon of milk every day.

MOre than likely you aren't eating anywhere near the calories you think you are. ALmost everyone I've ever seen that say they cant gain weight just aren't eating anywhere close to what they should be.

here is a sample of what i eat:

breakfast 7 am: 1 cup oatmeal, 6 egg whites
9 am meal: 1 premixed muscle milk and an apple
lunch: 1 sweet potato, 2 cups broccoli, can of tuna
afternoon snack: whole wheat crackers and protein shake
dinner: 3 tilapia fillets, 3 cups california mix veggies, glass of milk
before sleep: protein shake

also drink milk through out the day
and thats barely above maintenance calories for me

google starting strength. eat 6000+ calories a day. go.

simple and straight to the point! I like it

your BMI is 16.4! That's seriously underweight dude, I'd go see a doctor, you need to be 18.5 to be at the very bottom end of being normal.

This is your idea of of helping the guy bulk? Looks like an ~1800 calorie low fat diet with the only fat coming from a little milk. Think again, chief.

Sounds like a job for milk, squats and a huge calorie surplus.

You are seriously too light, learn to love food and lots of it!

the food comes in right around 2300 calories plus the gallon of milk i said bring it in at just at 5000 calories which should be plenty if he is just doing something like starting strength.

that's also without any condiments throw in some condiments bring that up to 5250+ calories.

so not as bad as it seems and if he throws in just one mcdonalds double cheeseburger thats another 400 calories there

I only drink about half a gallon of milk not counting shakes a day which keeps me close to maintenance at 4000 calories.

edit: I know plenty of people that dirty bulk and do fine but I prefer a cleaner bulk. Not because calorie wise I think it makes a difference but becasue dirty bulking can get you into bad eating habits

You completely missed the point. Your diet is lacking essential and healthy fats. You also recommended eggs without the yolks - what kind of blasphemy is that?

let me rephrase that.
do you really think someone with a bmi less then 20 (let alone 16.4), has a big enough stomach to devour 16 cups of milk in 1 day

instead of a gallon per day drop it to 1/2 gallon. Add peanut butter to this and you have a good caloric combo.

16-20oz milk+3-4 tbs peanut butter, do this 3x per day if you need calories. You cant say that is too hard to do
