Ilia vs JG makes sense* (see post), but it could backfire the UFC badly

A. Maybe he doesnt deserve it but if so he called UFCs bluff and was a man of his word
B. Armen is still in the shithouse I guess? He's also waiting it seems
C. Letting Paddy cook I suppose and not rushing him. They still have a giant match to do

There’s no way he “deserves” it but if he’s in such a hurry to get his brains scrambled, I’m down to see him slept again

He needs to fight Paddy, that would be an interesting fight. JG will get put to sleep very early, come on now.

JC if this is true,so stupid
If if does happen i hope Topuria breaks this diva's jaw

Justin is very popular though. So it wouldn't backfire for the UFC business wise. Seems like they really want to him to be champion honestly. That's why they keep giving him a shot every chance they get

Let Ilia fight all contenders, tick them off the list, no complaints .
Someone is getting knocked out though.

ARman has to get a win, the fact people think you can botch a title fight like that and then just walk into another is crazy to me. I'd go Paddy personally because its biggest fight and with them debuting on CBS/Paramount in Jan why wouldnt you just make it and not risk that fight going up in flames if one loses.

But I do understand Paddy getting one more. So if you need Arman to re earn it and Paddy to get one more and you have Justin who has been there, was next in line, was convinced to take Max fight at 300 and seems like UFC made promises on that I can see why they would go Justin.

There is no Justin fight thats gonna suck so one of them will go out in that fight so is it the worst thing if Topuria beats him, no. If Justin wins you have Paddy or Arman as a defense.

I don't like the fight. It should be Arman, but he blew his back out doing pretzel rolls trying to impress Nina Drama like a dumb ass.

Gaethje is an all action fighter. He'll do his job and go out on his shield here to add to the highlight reel at the joy of the UFC while they get bank for another event.

Justin needs to retire after this one. He's taken a ton of damage. I love to watch the guy fight, but if he takes a beating here, it's time.

This will be the second title fight JG gets on a one fight win streak, beating fighters coming off a loss.

There is absolutely nothing deserved about this or making sense about this.

It's every bit as interesting as islam vs poirer, I dont remember so much talk about that.

What ? It was a huge topic, fortunately Poirier looked good in that fight.

Edit: The issue here, is that Arman is ready to fight and not booked, unlike Poirier who was the best fighter available, back then.

No he doesn't
Kind of depends on what negotiations and conversations UFC and him have had.

Did they make any promises to him at any point after winning the BMF belt? Was his threatening retirement a response to a previous agreement behind the scenes? I think there's more going on than what we see on the surface.

I recall I protested when the UFC gave Topuria to Max Holloway. I was one of the few people who called it out as completely bullshxt and favourtism match-making. The UFC clearly knew what they were doing. This move was hasty and not by accident it was deliberate.

Then they came with Charles Oliveira I protested again and now they are coming with Justin Gaethje.

This kinda of delegitimatize Topuria´s rise as something manufactured. Note I love Topuria but at this point my guy is kept on old fighters diet exclusively.

Instead of bringing Max Holloway to Abu Dhabi they should have booked Ilia vs Movsar or Lerone Murphy it would have been extremely competitive fights and now instead of giving him Arman they bring Gaethje.

Maybe, but none of those situations would change the fact he doesn't deserve it. It would just mean the UFC is shady and screwing people with broken promises, which I'd venture would surprise no one to find out

Fair points. He definitely doesn't deserve it on a merit basis. When UFC was trying to put together UFC 300 they were kind of low on options and I wouldn't be surprised if they actually made some sort of agreement with Justin to have him fight Max for the BMF belt on the card.

On one hand it would be admirable for UFC to actually honor an agreement, but it's their own damn fault they would be in this situation to begin with.

Gaethje wins because Ilia is small and hasn't fought a real power striker of this size. He hasn't fought anyone that will throw caution to the wind.
Bruh, Max Holloway pieced up Gaethje & Ilia fckd Max up with ease. & Max is bigger than Gaethje.

Not seeing an angle where this backfires on anyone. Gaethje isn't Belal. The worst scenario for the UFC is Arman beating Ilia.

Sure, the UFC would've loved JG as a champ.
But not being 37.

And matchmaking would get very tricky from there.
