If I had to pick out of the 3 it would be the Suburbs. I like the rural areas as well, but the only problem with me is if there was an emergency it would be hard to get help as quickly I believe. Never lived in a rural area, I maybe wrong.

I do have to choose and I'm in the burbs. Love it but I'd consider a more rural property as long as there's everything I need within 15 min drive. Would never live in a city again.

Growing up and spending my 20's in the suburbs was fine but it got boring as hell for me a couple of years ago.

Moved into a big city a few years ago and love it. I have like 100+ restaurants and bars and all kind of things in walking distance. Don't even own a car anymore. Can't imagine going back to suburban/rural right now but of course that could change in a few years.

Suburbs / rural would bore my tits off. Urban all the way.
I can get a high speed train into the countryside in 30 mins if I want.

Rural. No neighbors no traffic and being able to just go outside and shoot or kayak hint or hike right at your own house without leaving is amazing. Everytime I go up north in the summer and fall I want to come back to Wayne County less. Rural in the winter however fucking sucks.

Suburbs baby. I’m not really a nature or hands on guy so I love the city, without actually having to deal with the crowd 24/7

Cop out answer but it honestly depends. There's only a few big cities I really like that I could see myself living in. One of such I'm moving to in June. I'm fine with suburbs and probably might end up there one day, who knows. Rural only if it were somewhere like Hallstatt or the Rockies (where I'm still close to civilization).

What do you mean 'if you had to choose", surely everyone chooses, there aren't any minors here?

Oh, and rural but near a main hospital.

Maybe things will change as I get older / more misanthropic?

Maybe. I dunno who wants to go to Bars and concerts and be excited 24/7 that is 40 plus works full time and has a family .. .but that was the life when we were all young and i couldnt imagine life without those things. I've watched the change happen to most people I know at this point and all of them including me said some version of that first post I responded to

I wasn't trying to insult you or be a dick so much as I was legit curious if you were way younger than me and at a different stage in life. You really just sounded like me and all my buddies 20 years ago.

I choose suburban/urban. It has less of the crowding nuisance from urban life. But, maintains the conveniences, such as public transit.

You know like you would love to be living somewhere different but work and other responsibilities make you have to live closer to where people are ....so like if money or a job or a school or living near family wasn't an issue where would you truly want to live.

I don't think where you live is always a choice so much as a compromise on how to meet you and your families needs. My wife needs to be near people cuz she works with autistic people and I need to work near people cuz I am trying to get my own restaurant up and running but damned if I wouldn't rather live in the forest far away from everyone.

Tldr...choice is often an illusion
