Social If you had the opportunity for this major life change, would you...

I'm not going back to the days of T9 text bullshit, hella tapa tapa tapa 27 times just to spell one word, fuck that, I'd die first!
T9 was easy once you got the hang of it. The one you’re talking about is the pain in the ass.

Would you stop using a smart phone for the rest of your life if you had the opportunity to do so? (Would love to make this a poll but I have no idea how lol)

Many of us cannot as we have been sucked into the corporate BS of always having access to work, emails, etc.

But.. if there was a government mandate that forced employers to not make employees carry smart devices at all times, and it was no longer the norm.. would you get off the train? I know some have already.

There are major benefits of smart devices of course.. but do they outweigh the negative? Social skills are dying, stress is increasing, social media engulfs many people's lives, contact with work is 24/7..

If you had the choice... would you leave it all behind?

My answer used to always be no of course not.. but the older I get, I am leaning more and more to yes.. and yearn for the days of yore, before smartphones invaded our society.. where you actually saw your friends more often in person, and talked to people instead of doom-scrolling your life away..
I have been consciously using it less and less, especially at work. I'm trying to rely on my own senses/intuition instead of defaulting to the screen. I already was someone who didn't use the phone much (I don't even have a cell number anymore). Everyone knows how they make you dumber, but so many are addicted.

Especially women, but even dudes. Everyone that has one can do better to limit its use.

You already have that choice.

No since I need it for doing bank stuff, paying bills, work, and on and on.
Its impossible to live here with out a smartphone..
Social media on the other hand... I have zero.
I use one app on my free time, and its a sports app.

Its easy to cut down on the phone time.. just do it
People forget that you have to schedule stuff out to get things done before banking and government apps. If you were an adult before this stuff came out, it was a pain.

If you read my post I said I have to use it for work.

IF YOU READ MY POST.

Reading is fundamental!
You don't have to work there. Learning to lead your own life is fundamental.

No. It's necessary in the modern world. I mean, you COULD live without it, but you'd miss out on so much of what the modern world has to offer. Maybe that's a good thing, but if you want to partake in what today has to offer, you really do need it.

Though I guess if you still had a computer and the internet at home you could get by pretty much just fine.

I go weeks/months without using mine. People are amazed I don't have it by my side 24/7.
