So sherdoggers, if you guys could move anywhere in the world where would it be and why?

My top 3 choices would probably be between somewhere in Canada preferably where it's coldest, Duluth, Minnesota or Anchorage, Alaska.

Preferably back to Canada considering it's my home country though.

Discuss!

I already live where I want to live but if I had to choose I would move to the States, somewhere nice and cold. Is Chicago too hot during the summer?

Depends on a number of variables; what is my financial situation, do I get any job I want there, am I a citizen, etc. Or is this just a "name places you think are cool" thread?

A mixture of both I'd say. But let's say you are well off, you get your desired job and yes you are a citizen so you get to choose a desired location.

Alaska. Bought property there several months back and planning to move there within the next year.

The OC, obviously.

Glad to see a fellow cold lover, I swear us cold lovers get more and more rare by the minute. But to answer your question June, July, and August in Chicago have average high's in the 80's which I think is rather hot.

Cold weather is the best! That is hot, I guess I can move to Alaska during the summer.

Bora Bora. Or Nepal... I really liked it in Nepal. Maybe a home in both, and a holiday home in Switzerland.

If I have to chose a place other than where I live now, I would choose either Portland or Vancouver (assuming I could afford the latter).

Cool, overcast weather and lots of rain is something I actually enjoy. One of my greatest pleasures is taking my dog for a walk in fall in the evening with light rain.

There is also a part of me that wants to pack up and move to the Florida Keys - no particular reason, but something about the remoteness and laid back (aka elderly) lifestyle appeals to me.

Do I have to work? Portland or Bay Area.

No need to work? Italy.

Seattle is pretty cool too.

I'm somewhat terrified of Portlandia actually being real so I never visited Portland.

The plan over the next 5 years is to buy several dozen acres of Northern Boreal forrest and start building a log cabin on it. Enjoy it as a vacation property until I retire, then move there full time.

Portland is awesome - I went there for a conference back in 2011, and I didn't want to leave.

I went in late fall, and some of the scenery looked straight out of a postcard.

Vancouver is a great choice in all honesty, I've never been but I've done a ton of research on the place and it seems great.

I know nothing about the Florida keys but a laid back life style is always something that has appealed to me.

How was it in Nepal?
Switzerland seems interesting, always have been curious about that place.

Switzerland is a great country. Visited St Nicholas de Flue's shrine, pretty cool.

Nepal was really vibrant, a lot going on. Locals were really nice. The charas over there was legendary lol...
