Came here to say this, i guess mediocre minds work alikeSaku vs Arona was really painful.
thats a pretty biased take on Gaethje’s striking.Honestly, I think that Rafael Dos Anjos (heck, even Barboza but Justin was powerful enough and didn't care to go all in, which is enough to stop Barboza) is better striker than Gaethje. Yes I know that sounds crazy but outside of power I have never seen Gaethje doing anything special. I could even say that most of the time he is sloppy. To me, he is vastly inferior to someone like Poirier (who I think is better striker than Ferg, fundamentally at least). Of course, everything depends on matchup and gameplan of imposing what you want to impose. Heck, by the end of the first round i thought that he just needs to enter the second round how he usually does and push the pace heavy which would make Gaethje gas out fast (at least what I've seen from him till that point). But things just weren't happening and I don't think it is because of Gaethje.... I won't even talk about mixing it up and using one of the greatest all around skillsets in MMA (my opinion)... His chin was the only thing doing work in that fight. Of course, everything here falls in category of speculation because Ferguson got wrecked heavy by the end of it and I can't prove nothing until they fight again... But I have seen enugh from both to believe that Ferguson got more than enough tools in every department to neutralize Gaethje and even finish him... That is my firm belief.
Hey, I didn't say I was correct but I would have to agree with Poirier in a sense that Ferguson made Gaethje look better than he is. There is no disrepect there, I was even saying that Justin is one of the worst matchups for Tony. I just don't think Tony was his usual self. Nothing was happenin in that fight that wasn't happening in fights before that for Ferguson (against people with better cardio), this time he just didn't do what he usually does. And there are many other things that didn't happen but I guess that was Ferguson camp choice and thats okay. Maybe it was two weight cuts in short amount of time (even Justin admitted that wuld affect him), maybe it was nothing. We will never know. All in all, he got blasted and better man won that night. Only thing I am trying to say is that i believe that Tony Ferguson is better MMA fighter than Justin Gaethje - IMHO obviously.thats a pretty biased take on Gaethje’s striking.
Thing don’t happen by accident at the highest levels of combat sports. Gaethje has developed very crisp and accurate striking, solid use of angles and feints and he has serious power in his hands and his kicks.
RDA and Poirier are both very talented strikers but RDA had his chance at Tony and it did t go his way.
The Tony just needs to “push the pace heavy which would make Gaethje gas out fast“ only works if Tony isn’t getting blasted in the face in just about every exchange.
Do you think Tony didn’t want to push a pace on Gaethje? Tony had a full camp for a title fight and Gaethje was short notice. If anyone was in a position to make excuses it was Gaethje, not Tony.
Fair enough.Hey, I didn't say I was correct but I would have to agree with Poirier in a sense that Ferguson made Gaethje look better than he is. RDA was on an absolute tear until the Eddie fight. And then Eddie put on one of the worst performances in a main event title fight ever. After that it was just a revolving door of fighters sitting out, getting injured, and interim champs that never really did anything with their belts. Idk if RDA would've beaten Conor but it couldn't have been any worse than what happenedRDA was zoning out from LW. Had issues with multiple weight cuts. And Conor was gonna get a shot at that belt no matter who had it and probably would've gotten it.
I don't think this not happening would've halted what was coming.
Yeah, I guess it is understandable that it comes off that way. For me, Justin Gaethje is top 5 guy for sure but I think that he isn't championship quality fighter (mainly because of some obvious limitations like non-existent BJJ defense). Of course, matchups matter heavily and Gaethje is very nice matched up against Tony, especially when Tony is just banging it out. I always told people that Khabib is easier fight for Ferg style-wise (doesn't mean he would win ofc). In the end, it wouldn't be the wildest thing for Gaethje to be become champ (Khabib was atrocious matchup for practically any striker, especially ones with such ground game limitations). I am just sorry for Tony more than anything else because he didn't need to take that fight and like I said, I believe he didn't display what he is capable of.Fair enough.
I’m a fan of Tony, and I think he has the more impressive body of work, so far at least.
I think you are selling Gaethje’s skills a little short, but I get it. Tony is getting old though. He went to the well quite a few times with the whole “I can take everything you’ve got and keep coming forward” approach, and whether it was his age or Justin’s power, he ran into a guy where he couldn’t pull that comeback like he had done several times before.

Joanna already suffers from random unending migraines. Can't imagine why when bodied up females have been swinging for the fences now that there are blueprints to beating her and no consequences if they miss even for 25 minutes straight. This is why her fights with other girls look more competitive. They don't have to worry about takedowns and subs and they typically don't have physical issues like she does.
I really wish she would retire. Dana will just use her up as quickly as he can. Might see her get the Yair and Leon treatment if she refuses to face girls like Yan. I will be surprised if Dana bothers to give her a tune up fight. Will see how it plays out.
You must have hated this one:
