...that the UFC would promote, what would they be? And weight cutting is prohibited in this hypothetical.

I would only promote men's divisions:
+215 lbs
-215 lbs
-190 lbs
-175 lbs
-160 lbs
-145 lbs

You will promote -145 lbs division and weight cutting is prohibited?

In other words, you support Mighty Mouse division.
And the Bantamweight division. Congratulations on looking foolish ;).

Why foolish? I know you support BW too.
I just mentioned Flyweight, because it's a bit weird to support it for entertainment purposes.

206-265
186-205
171-185
156-170
145-155

I'm good with 5.

Wrong answer :D.

You have to create/pick six divisions.

Interesting question. Assuming weight cutting is illegal and checked through hydration testing, mine:

Mens:
HW- 205+
MW- 205
WW- 185
LW- 165

Women's:
WBW- 150
WSW- 125

Other stipulations:
- All PEDs legal
- Champions must defend within 12 months or are stripped EXCEPT for legitimate injury, which results in interim belts.
- Lots of scouting for college wrestlers, Olympians/former Olympians, NBA/NFL/MLB dropouts, and other potential good fighters
- Lots of scouting for WMMA to get the best female athletes and not soccer moms. Soccer moms will be fed to Cyborg and Gabi Garcia.
- Top 15 will be replaced with Top 25 because each division will be stacked due to advanced scouting.
- PRIDE rules + all elbows allowed
- PRIDE gloves
- NO Reebok sponsorship. Fighters can have any and all sponsors they want.

Because nobody in Sherdog wants to see manlets.

160
170
180

Super HW

No cutting, no USADA, no Reebok, no women.

Women's flyweight
Bantamweight
Lightweight
Welterweight
Middleweight
Heavyweight

Heavyweight would be so much more interesting if these lhws would stop cutting weight. Gus already weighs the same as Arlovski.

Hey, I said no soccer moms, so the WMMA will be legit ;)
As much of a fan I am of certain female fighters, statistically speaking they are grossly over-represented in terms of number of fights in the UFC.

If you combined W-Featherweight, W-Bantamweight, W-Flyweight, and W-Strawweight, they represent roughly 3.9% of the ranked fighters worldwide, but they account for 14.3% of the fights in the UFC.

If those same divisions had representation equal to the number of ranked fighters they had, you'd only see 17 women's fights in the year. That's hardly worth promoting over even the weakest of men's divisions (HW, LHW, and FLW individually account for roughly 7% of all ranked fighters; they individually have 3% more than the women's divisions combined).

This is very close to my ideal weight classes

HW. (No limit)
205
185
165
145

Or basically the weightclasses during MMA's golden era. I don't think it is a coincidence that the biggest stars in MMA history were born at a time when the major orgs had 4-5 weight classes.

There is a saturation point at which fans will not continue to assign the same value to champs. Dana used to preach that he wouldn't be like boxing with champs every 5-10 pounds but that is exactly where they are heading.

Gustafsson looks like he weighs less than Jones, the latter of whom weighs 216 lbs prior to weight cutting. I find it unlikely that Gustafsson cuts more weight than Daniel Cormier (the latter of whom cuts from 236 lbs) let alone weighs as much as the 242 lb-Arlovski.

Good point. And it doesn't help that many WMMA fighters have records like 4-3 or 5-5. A big reason why WMMA sucks is because WMMA has a lot of cans compared to the men's divisions. Imagine WW with 10 CM Punk vs. CM Punk fights a year.
