If Woodley fought Colby instead of Till in 2018...

i wouldn't say Bisping only showed up for a pay check. he was beating the fuck out of GSP off his back with elbows.
Yep, it is true that GSP's mythical ground and pound vanished when he did not have the size and strength advantage

Prime Woodley:

Past Prime Woodley:

disregard the opponent for 1 second, and just focus on Tyron himself. the difference in size and speed is quite evident. Woodley was never a super technical guy, his fighting style hinged on his freakish speed and power. Now that athleticism is not nearly as good as it once was and his success as a fighter therefore has taken a massive plunge. Its not THAT surprising, he is nearing 40 and has arthritis, but its still sad to see a once great fighter basically become a punching bag. Same deal with Lawler.

Lol

Motivated Woodley with his confidence would've ran through Colby with ease. If you're able to put emotions aside you'd see this but because it's Woodley people can't get out their feelings and Woodley is the worst fighter in the sport who loses to every fighter who's ever existed.

I think Woodley in form beats the hell out Colby, the shots usman was landing on him I don't see how Woodley doesn't also break his jaw

Pure, distilled moron right here

He was a pretty shit champion. No miles on the clock when he started losing, short spell as champion, awful fights as champion, losses just before becoming champion.

Plus he’s just the worst

But he also had losses just before becoming champion and awful fights while champion

Lol Colby hasn't won anything man or shown me that'd he beat Woodley. Why cause he had a good fight with usman? He's a bad ass fighter all respect but nah.

And what did Woodley do? Losses just before becoming champion, awful fights while champion, horrible losses when no longer champion

Colby would have destroyed him at any point

he KO'ed Lawler in the 1st round, beat tricky fighters that were on great winning streaks in Wonderboy and Maia (both these guys beat the 'BMF' the same year Woodley beat them) , and flattened the hype train Darren Till (who just recently had a close with with Whittaker). 4 title defenses. Hes no GSP but he was a great fighter and champion.

Did you watch his fights while champion? He was awful. Till knockout aside, who was way out of his depth to begin with. A poor champion, with a lacklustre record.

How would it have gone? The Till fight was basically the last viewing of Woodley in his prime.

It was the same Woodley.
Just better opponents
Colby, Usman, Gilber > Till

it takes 2 to tango, woodley always takes the blame for the lackluster maia/wonderboy 2 fights, when the others didnt exactly do much either. woodley nearly killed wonderboy at the end of that 2nd fight, and maia was just completely shut down and every time he tried to take him down he got shucked off by tyron who had a torn labrum.

what do u suggest woodley should have done ? just go out there and swing for the fences? he knows his body type and limitations, he is extremely explosive but doesnt have good cardio. there are many many guys like this in MMA, joaqin buckley for example gets praised for basically swinging until he gets a KO, but thats not gonna get him very far. soon enough hes gonna run into someone that he doesnt KO, and he'll be left there gassed AF getting beaten up. woodley played the game he needed to in order to get to the top

Usman and Colby sure, Burns nope. Till would school that guy. Gilbert is good but atm he is very overrated. Beating Old Maia and washed Woodley has made him look better then he really is IMO

Let's be honest Till didn't show up at all. I mean it boggles my mind, you have a guy that's great at feinting, good on the counter vs a guy that puts his back to the cage and overcommits with overhands. I mean he was even prone to getting hit with Till's favourite counter.

@Michael
"There isn't one"

so then woodley is the next best example ...

you can say he was almost ko'd .. but he waa stuck like a turtle on its shell ...

he had NO ground game .. ask anyone

Colby would have run over him for a 50-45.

Woodley ko's him. A lot of people forget prime Woodley had insane takedown defence. Stuffed every takedown from prime Shields
Woodley also was soundly outstruck by Shields and lost a UD. Colby undoubtedly has much better striking than Shields, better wrestling, and worse submissions. I honestly think he is a terrible matchup for any version of Woodley.
Take a look at Woodley vs Rory. Rory pressured Woodley the entire fight and absolutely dominated him. I believe Colby does the same 9/10 times.

Playing the game you need to doesn’t make you a great champion or great fighter.
