if Weidman was a superior fighter than Luke

He wouldn't have lost after being taken down. People like to say Weidman would have won but he pulled a stupid move and thats why he lost.

Put a little logic behind that, folks. Luke just landed a takedown from that mistake. If weidman was a better fighter he would have done something like....got back up, not get mounted, escape from mount etc.

Have you guys ever seen somebody get taken down, have their backs taken, mounted etc. And still win the fight? Because i have.

Tl;dr Weidman is going to lose regardless of wheelkicks because he's not as good on the ground. Luke needs 1 takedown within 25 mins to win.
Weidman was one of the lesser skill fighters off their back in comparison to some of Luke's past opponents.

Rockhold is better everywhere, other than takedowns which won't have much effect anyway.
Weidman had Rockhold down when he was fresh in the 1st round and couldn't do anything other than be put in a sub.

Not quite lol. Serra landed one punch early in the fight.....Luke outstruck and outgrappled Weidman to a finish in the 4th round, he showed us for 3+ rounds he was better in every facet of mma.
My point was that the TS was saying that having a win over an opponent does not Automatically mean that you are the better fighter. JDS KO'd Cain in their first fight but I don't think you can argue now that JDS is the better fighter. He lost the next two in very decisive fashion. Luke and Chris will likely meet a third time. I thought their first fight was close but you seem to feel Luke was schooling Weidman. I am excited to see the rematch.

A win over someone doesnt mean they are a better fighter and fights like JDS/Cain and Serra/GSP prove that pretty clearly, were dealing with quick KO's. Weidman/Rockhold is a different example because the fight was much longer and they got to strike, clinch grapple etc, we saw their entire game and Luke was the better guy in all three. I dont think he schooled him in every facet, I think the clinch game was even, striking was in Lukes favor but not dominant, but where Luke got him was the ground game and that part of the fight he dominated. So in that aspect Luke showed he was clearly better....but I will say that night.

To continue on what one fights means in this case......Luke was better then Chris that particular night. But that doent mean Chris cant make adjustments and win a rematch. I think its a different case then GSP/Serra and JDS/Cain, both those fights the losers just had a bad game plan but dominated the rematch. I think the Weidman/Rockhold fight is a bit more clear to who is the better guy where because we did get to see em for 3+ rounds. But we do need to see a rematch to show this because Chris may have a bad night, bad camp etc.

I am picking Rockhold to win again in this one, I just think he is the better fighter everywhere here and he counters Chris entire game very well. Fights that are usually decided over a decision or go longer with a finish where one guy shows us he's more superior usually dont have different outcomes. Fights like Cain/JDS 2 and 3, BJ vs Edgar, Benson vs Edgar, are a few examples and in all three we saw the winner from the first fight look even stronger in the rematch. I cant really think of a fight where someone looked completely different despite losing in a shorter amount of time between fights.

Good thing they're fighting again soon and we'll have more answers than questions...probably.

Weidman probably is a little better at everything.
But he lacks in the cardio dep't and off of his back.

Does anyone think Luke can win the first round?
Well he won the first round of the first fight so.....

But they aren't evenly matched. We all saw them not being evenly matched.

So you didn't watch the fight then. Weidman had round 1, Rockhold round 2, and Weidman was winning round 3 while Rockhold was gassing then Weidman made a big mistake in going for the wheel kick and Rockhold took him down Weidman's head hit the mat on the way down and Rockhold followed up with hard GnP and Weidman could not recover.

It was an even fight before the wheel kick with Weidman ahead in round 3.

People dont give Luke enough credit for that win. Weidman has great BJJ, but Luke's control on the ground is impressive. The way he transitioned from having Weidman's back to full mount was beautiful. I'm not even sure Jacare could control Weidman like that. Been awhile since Ive seen Weidman vs Maia but I dont recall Maia having any success on the ground against Weidman either.
