Opinion If Trevor Noah and Ben Shapiro sat down with each other...

IMO they would realize they had more in common than they realized...maybe end up becoming friends.

I know there is this thought that Shapiro hates him, but watching them both it just doesn't seem like Ben's way to hate Trevor.

I know many see Trevor as a person whd overplays the race card and I get it but -

Trevor seems like a really nice and decent guy. And his recent Andrew Yang joke where he stated Yang wasn't getting much media coverage was pretty funny.

Ben is a straight up weasel lol

Shapiro would bury him with 6 million facts and bulldoze his house with logic.

Wow...

My conservative acquaintances who are into politics and history like Trevor Noah as a comedican and as far as politics they respectfully disagree with him.

Why all the extreme hatred here?

Trevor Noah?

Pass.

Trevor Noah is complete ass cheeks. Just a corporate news simp reciting the leftist script.

Shapiro is in an entirely different league. Manga Cum Laude from Harvard Law, started and owns his own successful media company. Still presides by and preserves the ancient religious tenets of his race.

That loser Trevor Noah couldn’t even carry Benji’s jock strap. What a ridiculous thread.

We see what op tried to do here but it failed. People aren’t this feeble as to classify these two in the same category. It’s like comparing Tom Brady to Donovan McNabb.

Trevor Noah would have nothing insightful to say, like always, and Ben Shapiro would rattle on with his facts above feelings rhetoric while presenting arguments like a fight, and awarding the people he wants to listen to him not for being right, but for feeling vindicated.

They're very much two sides of an equally stupid coin.

Have you seen The Daily Show lately? Noah has really grown into the role. His commentary about the DNC debates was great, and like Jon he calls Democrats out a lot. I wasn't a fan in the beginning but I really dig him now.

I think if most people sat down and had a civilized conversation, they'd realize they agree on more things than they disagree on. Politics is just one subject out of many.

I have to say though... Trevor Noah is just not funny. He's SUPER cringe. And it's not a political thing, either - whether you agree politically with guys like Jimmy Kimmel, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, they are hilarious. Trevor stinks. He was a "quota" hire, there's no two ways about it.

I actually put Trevor over Colbert now as far as entertainment, and a league above Kimmel and Myers.

Everyone note: I've posted mostly good things about Ben Shapiro on sherdog for the past several months.... and anyone who is familiar with me and the way I post about Ben knows it. This is classic hasty assumptions at work.

Since when does wanting to see two people talk even come close to suggesting that is equating the two?

Ben had a 1 hour talk with Cameron Kasky, the high school kid. I thought it was a good talk. Do I actually equate the two? No, absolutely not. I think Cameron Kasky is a really well spoken and reasonable kid for his age and well meaning, and their conversation was very good to listen to. The last line was Ben saying: "I may not agree with you but I think you are one of the good guys and I wish you well".

I could say the same thing about Kyle Kulinski and Ben Shapiro. Kyle has a huge following and I watch his content but he talks a lot of shit about Ben. Ben does not seem to ever really talk about Kyle.

But knowing the two of them they have a LOT of common ground.

It's so funny - I get criticized for saying good things about Ben Shapiro in the past - then look at this thread, the irony.

I agree. Hey AgoneyandIrony - what is wrong with the War Room? What is up with the lack of mixed opinions, nuance, or liking someone who one disagrees with?

FFS just because this is called the "WAR ROOM" doesn't mean posters have to act so tribal. Not many people here seem to actually want to learn or to see people come together. Actually many posts in the WR come across as posters who are insecure about their beliefs and come here and shitpost just to reinforce their belief and feel good about themselves.

Yeah sorry if he entertains you that's great, but I lasted 1 minute (until the "that was my excuse for losing fights in high school" joke) and had to tap out. He stinks on ice.

Agreed on your 1st paragraph Peckah. Thanks for being reasonable and cool headed as usual.

For your 2nd paragraph that's totally cool as well. What someone finds funny or not is totally up to them. I don't like the humor in some comedy films and some of my friends do - that's totally fine. I think some of Trevor's comedy is funny - but if someone else thinks it totally sucks that is totally ok too.

They already have and it went very well. It was one of his Sunday Special episodes.

I'm sure someone could post a clip of something Trevor did that I would find funny, and I'm sure at some point I've laughed at something he's said or done. But speaking as a whole, I just find his shit weak as fuck.

I think political comedians often get the benefit of the doubt from their own side (Trump haters laughing hard at Trump jokes, Conservatives laughing hard at Dem/lib jokes). I just hate weak jokes, I don't really care if I agree with them or not.

I watched a Jim Jefferies special a few years back and laughed my ass off, even though he was slamming gun owners like myself.

I like his formula. He follows the same one Jon did now. Silly silly, real talk, silly.

His commentary on the debates was the best I've heard about them.

The bolded is how I feel. It's why I stopped watching the late night talk shows frequently. I got sick of the Trump jokes - not because I am a Trump guy (I'm not ) but I just found it was getting really old.

And actually I find some of what Trump says funny as well. Like for example there is a clip of him talking about his Rosie feud in front of a group of college students (before he ran for President) that is hilarious.

I found some of his tweets in the past couple years funny as well, and not at his expense the way the late night hosts do. I genuinely thought they were funny. Some of the things he does and says at his rallies when he notices his crowds start getting bored - I think that is funny too. Ie- when he senses he is losing his audience, he admits to just yelling one of his most famous talking points to prevent ppl from leaving the rally.

personally, I think that would be awesome.

this is the problem with the current political climate.

people don't FU*KING converse.

and we see a lot of that on this forum as well. it's much easier to pigeon hole someone and assume what so and so believes.
This is probably the #1 reason why I appreciate Joe Rogan's podcast. Yea, I know it's hipster to shit on him, but at the very least..he does engage his hosts (of all different back grounds, political affiliations etc) and TALKS to them.

People don't converse... Not many Bro

Ben Shapiro makes his living going from campus to campus and presenting and then taking questions... He stays long and answers anybody's questions.... On the spot, with no writers and no time to prepare his answers.

Ben converses. On any topic, and has a very good record of being respectful with very few mistakes of ridiculing his opponents or loosing his temper (there are a few)

Noah just reads what his writers prepare.

They are not in the same league when it comes to ability.

Really? I tried to search for it but couldn't find anything.

But in the process I found this:

Hell yeah, didn't watch yet but...I have a lot of respect for Zuby. I also like Ben a lot so, can't wait to watch this.

I agree w/ everything you said here. It's not about one being smarter or more knowledgable than the other. More just...I like to see these kinds of conversations. Trevor's job is to be a late night comedian. Ben's job is a lot more serious and it makes sense that he would probably have more time to study current politics than Trevor does.

Oh I agree with this analysis.

I was just speaking in general, about how people don't converse. I would respect "real time" with bill maher a lot more if they had more conservatives on, and for the ones that do come on, not do an ambush or tag team match up against the solo conservative dude.
