I wonder how that would’ve went? Any ideas?

Tony would get submitted. I always thought Tony would’ve been one of Khabib’s easier fights. It’s low cage IQ (Tony) vs a fighting savant (Khabib). I always said the person who had a chance against Khabib was GSP assuming he could physically keep up. GSPs IQ was/is the only one that matches Khabib.

Khabib would have ragdolled Tony with ease. Danny Castillo controlled Tony for over 9 minutes of their 15-minute fight and finished every single round on top. Tony looked helpless. Khabib is a much more dominant wrestler than Castillo.

Tony did not look helpless. He won that fight by being more active.

Never saw Khabib trying for subs vs Tony, but could def see him putting him in a bad spot (isolating an arm) and TKoing him eventually.

The notion that Tony is hard to submit will be put to the test. He's up against Chuck and while I'm not high on him like most people here, he is one of the most talented submission artists in UFC right now.
I doubt there'll be very many grappling exchanges in that fight

3 and half years ago - yes. I dont think so today and I'll never base such an opinion off 1 fight but in this case , I will and for a myriad of reasons.
Stylistically, Ferg v Oliveria should deliver on so many levels but we'll see. Tony had this wide open window for a long period of time. This fight will answer alot of questions and we'll see if his window is still open. 3 years ago, Tony is a -280 ,-300 favorite over Charlie O. Today , the line sits at -140/ +120. The odds are almost even ... ..and it should be.

Back at 209 would have been Khabib UD.

At 254 (had Tony not lost to Justin/if the fight was postponed instead) it would have been by sub.

IMO.

But his wrestling is weak. That was also apparent when Kevin Lee had him in the full mount and landed some GnP. Tony may be touch enough and good enough on the ground to avoid submissions and go 5 rounds, but Khabib would dominate him on the ground. Also, Tony's doesn't have enough KO power or good enough striking to do much damage during the little time they're standing. If Conor, Poirier and Gaethje couldn't finish Khabib on the feet, I really doubt Tony would.

Khabib said he would stand and trade with Tony because he’s been dropped and rocked plenty of times in his career. Khabib would win by T/KO, Tony doesn’t have the power to hurt khabibs granite chin
