If Stipe convincingly beats Cormier, is he the HW GOAT?

I don't really like Stipe, but he's already HW GOAT prolly.
 
Cormier would be a huge win, but I think the problem with Stipe is hes an all time great HW whos competing in a washed up division, so he isnt really getting the fights he deserves to prove himself as the best HW ever. Its not like this is 2011 and hes fucking up JDS, Reem, Werdum, Cain, Brock etc. Most of the names hes beat are perceived to be past their best by that point.
 
Hooray, another Fedor discussion where the same arguments will be reiterated on both sides.
 
He already prolly is HW GOAT, if not right up there with Fedor, but there will be no doubt after July 7th if he beats DC. If Stipe wins at 226, I could see setting up Stipe v Jon to determine who is the GOAT regardless of division
 
How would beating the LHW champ make Stipe the GOAT? If he beats all comers at HW including a back to 100% Cain (not sure he'll ever be 100% again) then he would be GOAT HW.
 
If Stipe beats DC... he will be working with about 6 GOAT points... which starts getting him into the conversation with the big 6 true GOATs... of Which Fedor is higher up on. Stipe's gonna need a few more GOAT points to pass Fedor... but he's definitely starting to get himself into the legit GOAT convo.

Stipe is the HW GOAT and i think he can beat anyone put infront of him, if he can beat DC which i don't think he can then no one can take away his title of HW GOAT

Because DC used to compete at HW and was undefeated there. He completely squashed Big Foot Silva and knocked him out.
 
he certainly is. if he beats DC by TKO there will literally be no question. however i think he'll win by unanimous.
 
The wins that Stipe needs to complete his UFC HW GOAT status. DC, Cain, Werdum 2 or Volkov. After those 3 fights he would have a total of 6 UFC defenses and have gone through the entire HW division basically.
 
He already is imo... Even if he loses he's had a better career then Cain...
 
I think if he beats Cain he is a shoe-in for GOAT HW.
 
Nah he'd have to fight Jones without testing, then hop in a time machine to fight "primed" Fedor followed by a taking a dump on Bruce Lee's grave to "officially" receive the crown of hw goat on Sherdog.
 
He is the UFC HW GOAT already. The comparison to Fedor is something that will never be agreed on unless Stipe stays very active and just keeps winning. But that is not going to happen because Stipe is only active on even years in the UFC and only fights once on odd years because of his real career.
 
No he would not. At this point Fedor Emelienenko is the greatest HW ever. If Stipe beats Cormier it adds to his legacy as a top level HW win, even though Cormier is now at LHW I still see this win as beating a HW the level of a anyone in the top 5. I think a few things need to happen in order for Stipe to take the spot as the HW goat, besides beating Cormier. One, he needs to beat Cain Velasquez......with that win it would clearly make him the best HW of the current era of HW's that ranges from 2009 to 2018. And two, he needs to defend the belt two more times and I think it would be good for his legacy to beat JDS in a trilogy bout considering they are 1-1. At that point he's 22-2 with 7 title defenses.

That would make him a clear HW goat. I think even with wins over Cormier and Cain he's pretty even with Fedor but a lot of this is perception of fans and you want it to more than clear. At that point I don't think there is much that can be said if he wins 4 more big fights.
 
A win over Cormier will not put him ahead of Fedor in my mind. He will either need to beat Cain Velasquez or to defend the title 3-4 times more against run of the mill contenders to get the nod in my book.
