IF Stipe beats Jones....

If he wins they'll try to pressure him into giving Jones an undeserved rematch.

Stipe will win. Write it down.
It's his last chance to punk Dana, and Stipe is a proud man. He'll do it.

Stipe has a chance to win. If he does, damn, hard to argue he's not the GOAT. People will argue of course but it would still be very cool. Dana would implode and people would say JJ was never that good anyways. LOL.

Dude is riding his fire truck off into the sunset. That is what he's doing. It's literally the best storybook ending you could possibly have to a career.

Stipe has always said that he will retire when it is no longer "fun". He has also said he has thought about retiring after every fight. So who the hell knows?

I suspect a lot will depend on him finding out how it feels to go through a fight camp when having a FULLtime firefighter job, for the first time in his career. If it doesn't turn out to be the straw that breaks the camel's back of "fun," I can imagine him not retiring after re-re-winning a belt. I don't think he has the same kind of feeling about legacy that, say, Cormier and Jones have, craving to exit on a glorious final flourish. Those two seem to share the same idea, to defeat Miocic in their final fight and leave on top. Didn't work for DC...

He starts a podcast with Tito.
He has—or at least had—a podcast along with two of his friends. Which has been on hiatus for quite a while, but not because of him.

Dana will freak out about having Francis last KO victim as champ and try to set up a rematch ASAP. Both Jon and Stipe will demand truckloads of money. Nothing will happen for ages and the title will gather dust. Pav will fight for an interim against Aspinall or Gane that will quietly be upgraded to the real title in early 2025 and it will be hugely anticlimactic.

coming off the biggest win/payday of his career, I have to imagine he would accept a rematch with Jon or try to use it for another huge payday. then retire.

It would be a real feather in his cap to go out on, but Jones is going to put him out instead

They fucking totally would…’the “ghost of Jones”…’. Oye. Stipe ducked him for x reasons…

Rematch. It would do huge numbers. Way more than the first fight.
Stipe will ask for 20 million dollars in this case. And rightfully so.

If he beats Jones, he is undeniably the greatest heavy fighter we’ve ever seen in the sport

Notice the big “if” in the thread title? Enough said. I’ll be rooting for Stipe. But I have very little faith. 3-4 years ago, it’d be different.
