You guys know BJJ is still overwhelmingly effective in MMA right? Not like everyone who does BJJ is like Ryan Hall or Gary Tonton. Not everyone who does Sambo is a killer like Khabib or Islam.

'Classic' Sambo is a judo based style, so they got throws, trips, control, subs etc. Not a SINGLE punch is thrown in a 'Classic' Sambo match.
If you go to a Combat Sambo tho, yeah, you have punches.
so if you talking about the purest Sambo form, they dont punch. At all.

Sambo rules is much narrower and limiting. They don't allow many submissions that we see. Some rulesets the match ends with a throw.

I would even argue what is known as no-gi BJJ isn't really traditional BJJ anymore.

You do know that the AIGA rules are like taylor made for the non pure BJJ athletes? And there were quite a few bs resets from the judges and the Modolfo (bjj) team still won?
