Some great Russian fighters, some great Brazilians and Cuban fighters also but overall American fighters are greater (I'm talking boxing and mma)

it may be because that is where most of the fights are held ( in the UFC ) so it makes sense to train as close as possible to work to minimise jet lag environmental conditions e.t.c

Most UFC events are held in the US. So travel and climate accustomation are a factor. Top fighters prefer to land weeks before an event anyways, especially if there's a weight-cut involved. So might as well do the camp there.
Khabib trains most of the year back in Russia, with camps and select months in the US.
