If Raja Jackson tried that in the 80s...

They wouldn't have tried to shoot on him in the ring, because most of them probably knew he would've fucked them up lol.
Again, you're assuming someone is going to square up with Raja and have a "fair" MMA style fight with him in the middle of the chaos. I'm assuming someone blindsides him with a punch or unexpectedly picks up from behind him and slams him. The guy who pulled him off managed to avoid a double leg attempt, bite Raja, headbutt him and throw a couple of punches. You don't think a Scott Steiner (former D1 All American) or John "the Barbarian" Nord could do any damage, especially with others restraining Raja?

There are videos of fans jumping in the ring and not actually injuring fighters...and they still get roughed up sometimes.

I'm assuming Scott Steiner would pull him off and hold him back. None of these guys are doing what you assume they would do. Nobody is shooting on him in the fucking ring in front of a crowd like has been mentioned by several people lol

I like how you moved your goal posts from the 80's fake story tough guys like Haku and Bruiser Brody to D1 wrestler Scott Steiner though <lmao>

I've added a couple of other names. You've attempted to move that actual goal posts of my intended topic several times now, though.

and keep adding more names, none of them are shooting on the guy in the ring, especially if he has any potential to fight back.

Remember when Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle thought it would be a good idea to shoot grapple with nobody regional 1-0 MMA fighter Daniel Puder live on Smackdown? Kurt almost got his arm broken in a kimura if the ref didn't recognize what was happening and called a bullshit pin to stop it lol

As I've gotten older I've started to really dislike the romanticizing of older wrestlers as the most bad ass people ever because of bullshit fake stories or because of people like the Steiners taking advantage of job guys and working extra stiff with them knowing the job guys wouldn't fight back.

Most of the real stories about these guys were them all being backstabbing snakes that would pull a knife or a gun on somebody in a locker room before they would actually try to fight somebody. Or like someone earlier in the thread said, they would sucker punch and then run to a running car waiting for them <lmao>

I thought I read somewhere Puder shot while Kurt thought they were working.

Different story when one guy isn't aware of what's coming.

I remember listening to a good Old JR interview about 15 years ago. Topic got onto MMA and he said he'd have picked Danny Hodge to beat Anderson Silva and Dr Death Steve Williams to beat (I think) Fedor.

I know both those guys were legit tough guys (Hodge had an Olympic medal), but was shocked he could be so deluded.

Kurt is the only one that said that and he said that many years later to save face.

Everyone else that was around have said it was a shoot. Al Snow who was one of the Tough Enough coaches has said he tried to talk them out of doing the segment and Bruce Pritchard even said him and Vince told Kurt he should avoid Puder because of his MMA background and only wrestle the other guys and that basically fueled Kurt's ego . Even the guy that went before Puder, Chris Nawrocki got his ribs broken by Kurt because Kurt couldn't bully him as easily as he thought so Kurt kept going harder until he legit fucked the guy up.

JR putting over the Oklahoma guys <lmao>

True story. My mate's uncle's ex girlfriend was working in a bar one night. Haku was just sat in the corner with an orange juice reading his bible, when for no reason 6 huge marines started throwing racial slurs toward him. He was a great guy, with a calm soul, so he was prepared to let it go, however they all pulled out crowbars and hammers and decided to attack him. Within 90 seconds 2 had had eyes bitten out, 2 were knocked unconcious and 1 had his scrotum ripped clean off. 1 was spared.

It wouldn't have happened in the 80s because they wouldn't have let a mark backstage in the first place and even if the can incident somehow happened they wouldn't have booked an angle with the guy the same night.

It wouldnt have happened cos he wouldnt have been allowed in the back with the boys in the first place.

^^ other guy beat me to it.

Reminds me of a conversation I had with my friend when I was still in school.

He thought that Mick Foley could win the early UFCs because of his high pain tolerance.

Bob Roop could have taught Raja some manners then Hiro Matsuda enters the room to finish the lesson.

What would've happened if some combination of Haku, Bruiser Brody, David Schultz, Rick Rude and Paul Orndorff came in to pull Raja off instead of those small-time, independent circuit guys?
there were only a few tough guys around in the 80s

You had the proven shooters who did big things in Wrestling and Martial arts like:
Bob Backlund, Bad News Allen, Harley Race, Tony Charles and a few others

Then you have the hearsay tough guys who were known for fight stories like:
David Schultz, Rick Rude and Haku

I think Raja Jackson COULD potentially beat up the bottom 3 but DIES to the top 4

The real time in wrestling was the era where only tough guys joined the sports, in the 70s and 80s you had a lot of rednecks in pro wrestling and by that time the art of shooting and protecting yourself in the ring was a forgotten art.

Real tough guys were the days of Briscos Herb and Roy Welch and Vergn Gagne, thats back when the average wrestler could tie you in knots.

This is another good point back in the 80s you didn't walk backstage without being licensed in that state.

Raja aint beatin King Haku, Breddah.

well raja does have somewhat respectable lower mma experience, I can tell you even physically capable guys with no mma back ground don't do well against people with even an intermediate set of skills, but I heard Haku was a force that's why I said COULD, I give him a shot

The 80s guys were obviously tougher than the modern crop (who the fuck goes into pro wrestling nowadays?) and wouldnt have let him off the hook for that. But still, a lot of the tough guy image comes from anecdotal sensationalized BS. The Haku stuff especially drives me crazy, I wish he had gone into one of the early UFCs so we didnt have to endure all the hyperbole surrounding him.

they would've kicked him out of the UFC. Haku is the one guy i think it's true because he's not known as a good boxer or a great wrestler, he's infamous because he bites people's noses off, gouges out their eyes, and savages people like an animal would. it's not because he has a good left hook. someone like Raja is getting mauled by someone like Haku. Raja is training for kicks and punches, wtf is he going to do when a werewolf jumps on him and starts biting chunks of meat off his face?
