Who said he was already guaranteed a title fight? Him saying 'I'll wait now to fight the winner of Holloway vs Edgar' doesn't mean he was offered it. Just means he thinks he deserves it.

I don't think there's any source of that.

If the Holloway vs Edgar fight happened then yes, he seemed like the best option for a title shot, especially if Max would have won. But sadly enought it's not going to happen right now. And with Edgar wanting to fight it's obvious the winner of Edgar vs TBA will fight Max next. So it's not good for Ortega to sit that out because the rest of the division will move on. And to be fair, with Elkins his last win I have him now more deserving for a shot then Ortega.
