If not gsp vs serra, whos your biggesest upset in ufc history..

Peña Vs Nunes stands out as a fight where absolutely everything had to go wrong for Nunes for Peña to have a path to victory. And it happened. Out-struck by a grappler after gassing hard and getting subbed like a white belt due to exhaustion. 1 out of 100 fight outcome

Definitely Bisping VS Rockhold 2

Bisping took the fight on 2 week’s notice after already getting smashed by Rockhold once before.

Rockhold was on quite a tear as well.

Bisping knocking Rockhold out was simply unimaginable

Nothing will top Gsp vs Serra imo. But Gonzaga/cc and Shogun/forest were massive upsets if you were a diehard mma fan who watched both pride and ufc. Crocop’s hype back then was massive. Shogun came a close second. Most of sherdog thought they’d run through their divisions.

Rockhold vs Bisping 2 really sticks out in my mind always, Rockhold was great at that time and the champ and had already beat Bisping and finished him comfortably. Then you factor in that Bisping took the fight on 10 days notice and said he hadn't been training. I really thought Rockhold would just tap him again. I was shocked, was not expecting it
"Listen @HI SCOTT NEWMAN , I'll put it like this. If people can walk around - and I don't mean this in a disrespectful way to religious people - and you believe the son of God came down to Earth 2,000 years ago, and he killed himself for our sins, and he can walk on water, and there's a God up there looking after ourselves, and if you get on your knees and pray to him that things will change, if you can believe that, then you can believe that I can knock the f--k out of Luke Rockhold two weeks from Saturday."

It's GSP/Serra for me. Rua/Griffin would be up there too.

Serra was the definition of a journeyman with not a great record. It was also a fluke win as proven in the rematch. That's why it was a big upset. It's a 1 in a 100 outcome.

Griffin beating Shogun was big because Griffin just felt like a random guy that was decent at MMA. It was an upset on paper given their status/resume but less of a fluke and more of a statement that Griffin was legit.

God certainly loved and shined down on Bisping that day, no doubt about it. What an incredible moment, I was legit shocked. It made it even better the fact that Rockhold was so arrogant at that time and his ego was through the roof. One of the best UFC moments.

What really got me was how Bisping was sitting down on his punches and throwing lots of heat, before that he was always tippy toe and was like Cruz where he was moving constantly while throwing strikes, but he came in flat footed and was throwing big power shots rather than volume tippy toe stuff lol. I loved it.

I was 100% convinced that my beloved Shogun would destroy that upstart Jon Jones. That upset me for a week. I cried.
Back in the day I was a big Brandon Vera fan and I was sure it would be too big of a step up in competition.

I was wrong.

This is mine. And the destruction of Pena in the rematch was sublime. Although I have to give Pena credit for making it to the final bell. She got beat like she was one of my grandmother's rugs for 25 straight minutes.

Disagree on Silva vs Weidman- I remember Weidman being an up and coming contender that many gave a chance to. An upset, but not a massive shocker like others.

Weidman was one of the highest touted prospects I've seen in MMA. Greater than Rory and Aaron Pico.

He went viral before being a pro, for giving Andre Galvao a solid grappling match in ADCC.

Bjorn and Bellator tried hard to sign him. They invited him to Bellator 33 thought they got their future MW champion.

"“Chris Weidman. I thought we had that deal done. I put a lot of time into that, and we had Chris come out to the Huerta-Alvarez show [Bellator 33] as our guest and we got him a hotel room. It was a big recruiting visit. We took him backstage, spoke with Bjorn and shook his hand. Chris was really excited walking out of that meeting about fighting for us. I was told by his managers that the deal was done.”

“I think Chris took the contract to a lawyer who was also a relative, and I think the relative had some questions about the nature of the contract. I think Chris felt like we had misled him. I read an interview where we had said that. It took me by surprise, but I think what had happened was, the guy that was working with him was trying to get other fighters into Bellator and had spoken to Bjorn about possibly working for the company. I think he felt like whether or not he was going to be able to do business with us outside of Chris Weidman, he felt like that was going to be dependent on if he could get Chris to sign with us. I think he might’ve misled Chris on a few things to get Chris to sign a 36-page document. I can tell you from my end, I don’t know anything that Bellator did to mislead him. I wonder where the disconnect was.”

“I thought that was a done deal. Bjorn was like, “How good do you think he can be?” And I say, “If we sign him, he’s going to be our middleweight champion.” When Chris won the title from Anderson Silva, I was like, “Well, I was wrong. He’s not our champion, he’s the UFC middleweight champion.”"

Here is Sherdog.com doing a prospect highlight on him again, in 2009

Chris Weidman aims to introduce himself to the world this weekend in Barcelona, Spain, where he will compete in the Abu Dhabi Submission Wrestling World Championships as a Brazilian jiu-jitsu purple belt.

Here is another scouting report done on Weidman in 2010.

Potential: If you still haven’t got the message yet, Chris Weidman is one of the most highly-touted blue chip middleweight prospects ever. With his combination of size, athleticism, and skill, the sky is the limit. At just 4-0 as a pro, it would be premature for him to jump directly to fighting the top-ranked 185 pound fighters, so getting more fights will be the priority in the interim. His options reportedly include entry into the potential Bellator Season 4 middleweight tournament and a spot on the cast of The Ultimate Fighter 13. The TUF gig would be the best opportunity to show the MMA world his skills, and his upbeat personality is perfect for the reality TV format.

But, 15 years later, and living up to the claim he was going to be one of the greatest MWs of all time, before he started..... I get told by guys who been around for 5 years, that he's a lucky bum that walked in Silva's shin.

Yeah I can't think of another title fight where there is such an apparent skill gap, it's like if Smith had bested Jones.
Tim Connelly beating michel Pereira be up there in none title competition.
