If Miocic wins, do you consider him the baddest man on the planet?

Not bashing Stipe, but this is MMA in 2016? I could just envision him getting KTFO at the Oklahoma State Fair toughman competition. Werdum has a much more impressive pedigree, he is definitely world class JJ. If Stipe beats Werdum I just feel like heavyweight MMA is still where it was a decade ago, where guys with limited skill sets can come throw a few punches and reach the top. Stipe is like an even less well rounded version of Cain, it's all going backwards, where is the new breed?

Agreed. Heavyweight MMA is devolving. 40 year-old champion. Former champ is made of glass. Part-time fireman contending for the belt. Ben Rothwell's in the title picture.

You are so, so wrong. Not only is Werdum older, he's been fighting professionally for a lot longer.

This is an important point: well over half, nearly 2/3rds of Stipe's career has been in the UFC. He has developed here.

If Stipe wins its because he will have been more technical striking and shut down or totally bypass Werdum's grappling game through footwork and boxing. That never, ever happens at heavyweight. Of course his high-level wrestling background will help here, if need be.

To quote the Mayweather clan: most people don't know SHIT! about boxing. And stipe is one of the best, most technical and agile pure boxers heavyweight mma has ever seen, win or lose.

I don't want to shit on you, but you're just wrong and aren't entirely sure about what you're watching. Particularly when it comes to boxing.

I mean I kinda agree, not a whole lot of talent in MMA when it comes to heavyweights. The supposed "higher level athletes" like Schaub and Mitrione turned out to be a dud, getting their asses spanked by guys like Nelson and Rothwell. HW athletes from kickboxing dont seem like they want to make the switch, and upcoming athletes prefer trying their luck at a sport that pays more.

Your vision of him is silly. Miocic is very talented and young for the division. He's a very talented athlete who could have played professional baseball and him being an average looking guy has nothing to do with a lack of talent.

Rosholt beat Struve - Struve beat Stipe. Rosholt the baddest man on the planet earth.

No, then I consider Struve TBMOTP.

guys, if you don t think that the hw division is weak right now, you re probably too tyoung to remember what kind of top 10 we used to have for the hw division
the current top dogs are werdum, stipe, overeem and rothwell...
overeem isn t half the fighter he was before Bigfoot, rothwell is ok but let s get serious, stipe is just a little bit fresher and younger than most of the roster and werdum is improving without actually being really impressive...he beat a horrible cain to win the title
jds isn t the monster he was before losing to cain
arlovski got ko'ed once again
overeem without horsemeat isn t the same overeem
barnett ,hunt ,mir aren t geting any younger
let s face it the ufc hw division has never looked so bad, there is no decent young prospect and most of the not that old guys are pretty mush finished

The baddest "fireman" on the planet.

I don't see Stipe winning this if he comes to box and avoid guard all night, that's the trap in-itself. If Stipe is going to put on a Stipe/JDS type performance he will need to mix in longer range weapons like kicks and faints to create well timed openings.

Werdum has become more dangerous because of his understanding of where striking and grappling are most beneficial to him. He playing along the same line as Nate Diaz's who's striking is leading into either pure submission or KO-type finishes.

If the opponent doesn't want to fall into the guard and can't faint with take-downs(as Werdum doesn't care) they are forced to stand solely on the merits of their stand=up alone. If they choose to "mix it up" then they run the risk of falling into a more dangerous position that benefits Werdum.

Just not seeing Stipe win this if he's counting solely on the merits of his stand-up alone.

He'd kick your fucking ass.

I don't even know what "Baddest man on the planet" is supposed to mean...

UFCs heavyweight division is so weak i honestly believe Fedor could be UFC hw champ in 2016, after not fighting for 3 years...

I consider Jon Jones the "baddest man on the planet" atm.
