The problem is, even if Conor tried to be that guy, the rivalry isn’t fake. Khabib can’t just turn off the feelings he has for Conor. It’ll will devolve as they do more and more press for it

maybe given their prior history they don't have to do more and more press. at this point everyone knows who conor is and almost everyone knows who khabib is.
in my opinion all the UFC would have to do to sell this fight is put the date and time out there.

could save a lot on the pressers and just make a commercial with highlights from their first fight, them finishing other opponents, maybe allude to khabib's retirement and returnign to fight conor. end with a screen showing the faceoff, UFC # 262, April 26, 2021 10 pm....done, no?

I’m purely going off of my gut, and instinct regarding khabib. I don’t think GSP vs khabib ever happens. I do, however, believe there’s a chance he comes back after his latest Instagram post:

When he returns is a better wishful thinking and more positive! I don’t think he should fight either because it won’t do anything for his legacy but if he fights Tony and Chandler it will beef up his resume
