And goes on to get some more title defenses...

Does that go towards his record of consecutive title defenses? Or would it just be re-labled to "consecutive title fight wins" or some shit.. Anderson Silva currently holds the record at 10 title defenses in a row but seeing as Cormier snagged up the belt in Jon's absence and won some himself -seems that Jon will be fucked over for a potential new record ?

So technically speaking, if you factor in the Hamill bs loss Jon would have been 22-0 overall and 16-0 in the ufc and upon beating Cormier would have been 23-0 and 17-0 in the ufc, setting the new record for wins and being tied for the title defenses record - both of which he is now shit out of luck for. But, much like Fedor's loss early in his career that nobody took seriously I guess unofficially Jon would be the record holder anyways in the minds of mma fans?

Sort of interesting the think about. If he goes on to beat Cormier and get more defenses he would have set many records and be undefeated officially if not for the actions of himself. It seems that the only man that knows how to beat Jones is HIMSELF.

HIMSELF, who threw illegal elbows on Matt Hamill.

HIMSELF, who got into the multitude of legal problems, forcing the ufc to strip him of his belt.

HIMSELF. His one true adversary. Hopefully he will get his shit together now when he sees Anderson Silvas name on those records even though he unofficially surpassed him.

No title defenses for Jones if he wins.

He lost his title to himself which is the same as losing it to someone. (its stupid but that's how it works)

Its as stupid as the L on Jon Jones record.

It seems that all of the all time greats had a blemish on their career somewhere, Fedor had that loss due to a cut but went on to go 32-1 after.. GSP had a few losses from Serra and Hughes but avenged both. Aldo had that one submission loss prior to going 10 years undefeated. Silva had a few early in his career as well.

The difference is Jon's blemishes are his own fault - and they deny him the chance to have the most sought after records in UFC which would have otherwise easily has within reach. A sad tale, ultimately the lesson here is to fucking behave yourself inside and outside of the ring.

We can make pretend just like we make pretend he doesn't have a loss to Matt Hamill.

He will lose to DC so all of this is irrelevant.

He's a scumbag who deserved getting stripped, so who cares?

Probation and not getting to set records is getting off easy.

Perhaps. If DC ever had a chance to beat him, now would be the time.

I am 100% he devotes most of his training time on how to beat Jones, endlessly watching his fights looking for holes in his game etc. probably soon after his loss. He's got work ethic for sure - and sometimes that is enough to overcome talent if said talent has had some downtime which it most definitely has.

However Jones has been training hard himself. His body will be ready, but will his mind?

I see his being stripped of the title exactly the same as if a Champion was stripped due to injury.

Jones' suffers from a compound fracture in his judgement, gets stripped.

Easy peasy.

The UFC will find a creative way of giving him a record of some sort since he'll still deserve it.

His douchebaggery outside of the sport cost him some prestigious records inside of octagon. Tough shit. That's what happens when you're a smug asshole in real life.

I'm sure Jones loses sleep at night over this.

Fedor losing is not taken seriously? So he basically always wins whatever the result?

He goes back to square one in terms of title defenses.

Eh, it'd still count for consecutive wins in title fights and consecutive wins in the UFC. That's still working towards records.

His run isn't diminished in any real factor.

DC holds the belt, but we all know who the real LHW champion is. Jon Jones never lost his belt in competition.

Anderson will hold the title defense record, but we will all know who the real record holder is. Jon Jones never lost his belt in competition.

But officially, Anderson will continue to hold the record until Mighty Mouse passes everyone up.

I think GSP was like one or two fights away from surpassing Anderson title defense record too before he gave relinquished his belt.
