I don't know about all that... It would just mean cormier would never be able to call himself the best until he fights and gets a convincing win over jones... That division has had the title change hands a lot before jones... Yes.. I do think the top guys in the LHW division could very well be a long time title holder at HW...

People dont understand the purpose of weight classes. They arent simply for separating fighters by weight. Theyre for separating fighters by overall size. With weight increase comes a height and reach increase.

Jones and Gus have a size advantage over most Heavies. Your Shogun/Hunt example is terrible because it'd be a striking match and Shogun has a clear height and reach advantage.

They'd generally have height and reach on their opponents. But their opponents would have 10-15 of fat. Jones and Gus would generally have an advantage due to their size
