I have been a Mir fan for a long time and never lost faith in him despite his rough run of results lately. All of his losses were against very tough opponents and he showed a lot in them, with the exception of Barnett. Since then he has 2 spectacular knockouts and outgrappled and was never in danger on the feet against Arlovski, who is ranked 6th and I think would wreck most people below him if they spent that much time boxing with him.
I think Mir has shown steady improvement especially in his striking over his last few fights, and Hunt is not a fighter who is going to dominate him in the clinch and hold him against the fence. I think this is a big opportunity for Frank, a big name, top 10 and a dangerous fighter who he can beat using his strengths, ground game, takedowns and threatening them to disrupt Hunt's strinking, kicks and long straight punches from mixed stance and not worrying about being taken down, and he has the power and reach and movement to hang with Hunt on the feet, I don't think he will be looking to beat him there but he is not going to get embarrassed there either like Bigfoot, Nelson, Kongo etc. Frank will have a speed advantage for once.
Hopefully he will find his timing and distance and take Hunt down, possibly later in the fight when he is slowing down, and from there grab a sub. He can finish with ground strikes too.
If Frank can win this fight convincingly, which I think he can by dictating what range it takes place at, he will clearly be back in the top 10 and the 'shot fighter should retire' people will be shut up and we will see just how far he can go.
