I see this fight have most high level and evenly matched wrestling exchanges ever. I dont see any better. On par with: Jones vs DC 1, Merab vs Cejudo, GSP vs Hendricks, Islam vs Arman 1, Maia vs Askren, Cody vs Cruz, Romero vs Weidman, Luke vs Weidman, Romerro vs Jacare...

Mackenzie Dern vs Virna Jandiroba (if we're counting BJJ wise) is prob the highest you could get in all of WMMA

Yeah I think Aljo vs Movsar surpassed Tsarukyan vs Gamrot and DJ vs Cejudo (both) for best MMA grappling match of all time

The exchanges were great but I thought Evo was clearly the better fighter. Aljo couldn't do anything once he got to advantageous positions. Credit to Aljo for some crafty moves in there. I thought he fought a very smart fight. Evo is the bigger, stronger fighter. Aljo is fighting in the wrong division. He's a BW, not a FW.

Also Tony vs Kevin Lee

Gillespie vs CDF was a fun one.
Sandhagen vs Assuncao. Lots of reversals, scrambles and unusual positions
Yeah, Gregor Gillespie vs Carlos Diego Ferreira was probably the most entertaining fight I have seen that was almost entirely grappling.

I didn't know Sterling could wrassle like that. I knew he was an elite grappler but his takedowns of Movsar were on point. Was sad when he starting talking about retirement. I also now understand why that O'Malley loss bothers him so much.

To be a great grappling match - even without the context of MMA but especially in the context of an MMA fight - both fighters have to actually try to do something beyond maintain position if and when they achieve a dominant position. Sterling really, really failed to do so.

Ishida vs Melendez comes to mind as well.
Nominate:

Daisuke Nakamura v Bogdan Cristea
M-1 Challenge 5 - Japan (2008)

There may be a couple old heads around here that remember it, but I don't think there is video anymore.
