I’ve got a sickening feeling the snake will slither in and outpoint him to victory, mark my words.

He's arguably already the BW goat.

It is either TJ or Dom and I personally think it is TJ.

He has 5 BW title fight wins. He lost via razor close spilt decision, he has beaten BW champs Barao and Cody 2x each, all stoppage wins.

*If we are talking *UFC* BW goat.

If we could WEC then I think you give Dom the nod with his wins over Joe B, Jorgenson and Bowles. BUT quite a few of his best wins are against guys who were flyweights that fought at 135 because 125 didn't exist then. (DJ, Joe B, McCall)

Cue haters in 3...2....

Sandhagen fought like a goof against Dillishaw and still wrecked his leg and won on most people's scorecards.

Yan soundly beat a much better version of Sandhagen today.

So I'm not too worried about TJ beating Yan.

But to answer your question, if TJ pulls it off then it would be as impressive as when Cruz beat TJ and would definitely make him seem like the best ever from the division. (Assuming you disregard his blatant PED bust)

WEC still counts imo

Though against a completely different opponent, i thought that Sandhagen fought even better against Yan, than he did against Dillashaw and while most people think he should have won against TJ, we all can agree he lost to Yan.

TJ is insane from a technical standpoint, even if you (rightfully) give him shit for the EPO, you've gotta admit that, but i think he's more hittable than Sandhagen, which i think spells big trouble for TJ, as Yan is absurdly good on the feet, zero doubts in my mind he's currently the pound-for-pound best pure striker in all of MMA and i'd go as far as saying that i've never seen such a level of striking before.

I remember when Cruz came back a fair amount of people assumed that because Dillashaw had been more active and was a vicious finisher that he would beat Cruz. But, regardless of how you feel about the decision, not only did Dillashaw not finish Cruz, but he was given the most competitive fight of his career

I think it's sort of similar now, where people assume that Yan is now the best at 135 and a scary fighter and that TJ represents the recent past. Back then I genuinely believed that Cruz would win and he did, but I don't see TJ getting the same kind of upset, but kudos to him if he does

Technically he has to win 3 more fights before he loses another one, so who knows

TJ was getting outboxed by Sandhagen with counters and volume. He would need to improve his boxing tremendously for Yan. Yan outboxed Sandhagen once he figured him out.

Wrestling threat and having two healthy knees could change things, but I highly doubt TJ can win especially at 35 years old at BW coming off a major knee surgery.

He can win, but it wouldn't be smart trying to box with Yan. He would need to focus on his kicks but Yan has solid muay thai as well. But that would be his best chance because Yan's boxing is at a higher level and will pick TJ apart if he tries to box with him.

Yan also has great defensive wrestling, people think having a take down threat is enough, it isn't vs Yan. He's proved that in his recent fights when people try to take him down.

TJ at his best mixes his takedowns in far better than Sterling, mostly because he has the ability to make people respect his striking more than sterling does and he sets them up better. I think he could get him down if he comes back the same -- I just don't think he will come back the same. I favor Yan here. I'm more interested in Yan vs. the winner of Aldo vs. Font to be honest.

Obligatory

TJ came off a layoff…beat a top ranked guy…got injured…title fight next….oh no, the MMA gods have spoken! It’s written in the stars!

Said this after today's fight.

If TJ wants legacy - he'll go for the Yan fight. Nobody gives a fuck about Aljo.

Yan's hype is growing exponentially, being the first man to take him out legitimately would be an amazing feather for the cap.

It doesn't matter who the BW Goat is, they are all just keeping that title warm for this guy

He's not going to have to beat Yan because Sterling's going to win the rematch via TKO (submission to punches)
