Would the fight have been stopped or could Liddell have managed to go after Franklin enough to get a stoppage in the second round? Franklin suffered a broken arm in that fight, but still managed to knock out Liddell.

It was also Liddell’s last fight. His chin was seriously gone by that point, but I wonder how many fights Dana would have let him have if he squeaked out a win.

What made me think of this is how Bellator may actually sign him in 2018 despite losing 5 of his last 6 fights and not having fought in 8 years.

He would hAve lasted till Brock or Cm punk retire him

Rich isn't lacking in warrior spirit in any way, but I think he might have been too smart to get off the stool after a break and keep fighting with a displaced radius or ulna, whichever it was.

Chuck was winning in until he lost. He just got caught. ;)

A better question would be, what if Chuck wasn't so irresponsibly aggressive against Rashad and Franklin, could he have knocked them out later in the fight. I'd say yes.

In those two fights Chuck seemed to forget he should more of a counter puncher than aggressive chaser.

I recently watched both fights again, and Chuck fought like he had nothing to fear from those top-level guys. Just running in and throwing his looping punches. The aggression was insane.

Although I feel he would never have beaten Rampage, look how he lost that fight - throwing an aggressive uppercut from way outside, just leaving his chin wide open. Chuck seemed to buy into his own hype.

Chuck was made to beat wrestlers who couldn't take Chuck down or deal with his rangy punches. Chuck's sprawl and brawl style worked great against wrestlers and others he had a reach advantage against. But once chuck went up against legit strikers, his career was over.

Hell, he was even outstruck by Keith Jardine.

Rich beat the ever loving piss out of the crow woth two broken hands and a broken foot, he still would have finished Liddell

Chuck could have got that W, just like if Chael had made it to the end of the round against Jones.

He was winning until he wasn't.

Just like how the mighty GOAT BJ Penn technically won all of his fights if you dont count the time after the reff starts the fight.

Chuck’s chin was gone, but he looked good that fight until Rich caught him.

Has it been eight years since he fought? Fuck im even older now.

didn't he knock him out with his broken arm? Maybe it would have been like Cung Le vs Frank Shamrock.

The way he was fighting he was getting knocked out regardless.

I think he did knock him out with the broken arm, but it's one thing to keep fighting in the moment and another to sit down at the stool, talk about the shifting bones in your forearm and then get back up for five more minutes of having the jagged edge of that bone digging around your muscles, veins and arteries.

Chuck was looking great out there until that punch landed his chin was gone.

I think don't recall this fight at all.

Rich Franklin broke his hand (to some extent, I don't it precisely now) and AFAIK said in the post fight interview that he was about to call the fight off due to his hand injury right after the first. Had him not KOed Liddell in the last second, Chuck would have won via Franklin's self issued injury.

That was the worst luck ever, he was about to get lucky but then joke's on him.

He's just too wild and reckless oUT there. It's the same thing that makes him good and bad at the same time.
