If Bellator manages to get Rory once he becomes a free agent that would be awesome for Bellator.

Bellator's WW division is actually starting to look pretty good, and if they can get Rory in there it would really add a lot of legitimacy to it.

Bendo
Koreshkov
Rory
Daley

Ward
Lima
Kos
Gonzalez
Bradley
Honeycutt

That would be devastating for the UFC. Rory is top three in the world in welterweight.

Rory would be a huge pickup. he was on his way to a draw with condit, and was up on the judges scorecards vs lawler. I don't think it's a gamechanger because he's already lost twice to the current champ, but they could easily rebuild and legitimize the division off of his ranking.

Yeah I would think the UFC would try harder to keep him, he's one of the best guys on their roster imo.

Especially if he beats Thompson then goes to Bellator.

If word got out that the #1 welterweight in the UFC beat the #2 welterweight in the UFC then went to Bellator it may draw some eyes to Bellator.

I don't think there is any way the UFC lets Rory go. The UFC will definitely match Bellator. However, this is what competition is all about. If Bellator attempts to grab a name like Rory McDonald, it forces the UFC to spend more money, which means less funds to allocate elsewhere. It's like the old AFL - NFL rivalry. lol

Zero chance Rory ends up in Bellator

Good for Rory; would be a huge grab considering he is a full 5 years younger than any other fighter ranked in the top 5 at the weight class. No chance the UFC lets him go, but they may have to spend more money than they wish.

We'll see, my guess is if Rory beats Thompson then the UFC will most likely give him how much he wants, but if he loses they may just let him go to Bellator.

I think it is far from a zero % chance, very far.

He said he gave them the number he wants and they said no, if he dominates Thompson they may change their mind though.

I really, really doubt the UFC is going to let Rory get away. He is huge for the Canadian market win or lose against Wonderboy. Not to mention he is only 26 years old, has put on great fights for them. If he loses? His value goes down anyways and he's probably more apt to take what he gets. If he wins, he more than likely prices himself out of Bellator.

What it would take to get Rory off a win is pretty much impossible. I don't think this is really realistic at all, they weren't that far away on the deal. And though he says he just wants the most money, I can't honestly see Rory being ok with taking a step down competition wise. He's always been a "want to be the best guy". And that UFC gold, I think means a lot to him.

I think Rory means what he says. He took the beating of his career against Robbie Lawler and, regardless of Rory's age, that added a lot of mileage. I think the smart thing for him to do while he is still in his prime is to go where the money is, and he probably realizes that as well. That said, I agree that the UFC is very unlikely to let him go. Rory's contract probably gives the UFC a right to match offers from competitors before he can jump ship. But, the competition for free agents is good for the growth of the sport, and it raises the salaries of fighters.

I don't see belltor going hard after rory. They seem to like to spread out their big signings across the divisionsand hey just signed a top free agent for top money for ww. They might sign him up to do like a mw and ww run though

Dont see UFC letting him especially if he wins. If he loses who knows, still dont see him leaving.

Outside of the Bendo fight the other Bellator WW fights for him arent that interesting to me.

No it's not. It's absolutely a zero percent chance.

That really is a good looking division. I hope this happens.
