If Aldo retains should McGregor get next? (Poll)

Mcgregor has 1 decent win. If you're looking to give him a title shot then him vs Swanson is the fight to make, as he has a good chance, and it would be one hell of a fight.
Edgar/Mendes will just put him on his back and dominate from there

Emulating the best

5 grabs to 1.

I'd say Connor is better at that at least.

Conor looked pretty human in his losses as well.

Inb4 those losses don't count because they happened in 2010... The same year KZ had his losses.

yea... the difference being conor went on to win 12 fights after his last loss whereas kz went 3-1.

Au contraire, nothing beats a solid title fight fence grab, as I said, from the best.

I don't know.

The sheer disregard for warnings and rules Connor has shown in his last 2 fights puts him into a category of his own.

Should be an interesting fight between the two.

Jose "By The Books" Aldo vs. Connor "DGAF" McGregor.

8 of those wins are against 4-9, no ground game legit Irish cans from Cage Warriors.

It's pretty much 3 wins vs 4 wins, with KZ' only loss being Jose Aldo... And KZ' opponents being higher ranked.

He was given much stiffer tests in cage warriors than he has been given in the UFC. Don't mistake your own ignorance of international MMA with the quality of international MMA.

You're buying into the belief that mid-level cage warrior fights are somehow inferior to mid-level UFC fighters yet more and more European fighters are making waves in the UFC. A lot of the guys in the UFC wouldn't get second fights in Cage Warriors and a lot of UFC vets don't.

Most of Conor's opponents from Ireland have 1-3, 4-9, 3-5, etc kind of records.
There are a grand total of 2 opponents from Ireland of his that had good records.

2.

And I'm sorry to have to be the one to tell you this, but fighters over in the UK aren't exactly known for their grappling skills.

Now you show me a no-name fighter from Russia, Brazil, etc. Then I might get a little excited.
At least then I know they have fought some opponents that know what an armbar is.

As long as it's Aldos title match play book he's following he should be alright

I can't tell you anything about the UK tbh, maybe the people in that country haven't caught onto grappling yet, I've no idea. The team Conor comes from in Ireland is a BJJ-based team. They're having good success in MMA with the likes of Paddy Holohan and Gunni Nelson and McGregor was just awarded his brown belt.

You'd have to concede that results speak for themselves, nobody in the UFC has given McGregor a problem so far and his teammates are doing well too. Guys from other Irish teams like Parke and Seery are doing fine as well.

Again, you obviously don't follow the European MMA scene which is your loss really, you end up in discussions like this where your only point of reference is fightfighter and you don't actually have any clue what you're talking about.

Get real. Nobody follows Irish MMA, unless you are a local.
It's incredibly new, and has very little talent.

When it comes to MMA, the powerhouse countries have been the same since it's inception. Brazil, America, Russia, and Japan. These are the countries people watch MMA at levels that aren't the UFC.

I already saw Aldo fight Swanson and Edgar.

MCgregor is a new opponent. It would be more exciting.

The org that he was fighting in is the biggest org in europe, not an Irish org.

And if an Irishman guy comes over and slaughters all the Americans put in front of him in the UFC, maybe you should actually follow it.

2 out of 14 of Conor's fights outside of the UFC are from non-Irish countries... And 1 of those fighters was named O'Keefe.

Conor was an Irishman who fought other Irishmen.

Yep it's very impressive, and no accident that there are now five rostered Irish fighters in the UFC and a lot more to come. You should keep your eye on it, Sweden too.

I said no. McGregor may be a smart move financially for the next title shot. But I don't think beating Poirier and Brandao warrant a TS.
