Here are some of my ideas to make the UFC popular again after an unprecedented decline in the past few years:
1) Let fans be the matchmaker; UFC needs to let the fans vote on all the fights that are made. At the end of the day, fans are the ones who spend cash on buying the product so they need to have a say in what they pay for
2) Have some kind of a world cup for MMA where country vs country is the main structure. This will help spread the sport worldwide to get on the same level as soccer and other popular sports. We have to admit, nationalism is a widespread disease whether we like it or not and humans everywhere like to support and cheer for their countrymen
3) limit grappling; like I said in another thread, limit the number of takedown attempts a fighter can commit during a fight. People love knockouts and finishes and don't like to see a man hugging another man for 25 minutes. Also, too much grappling causes fighters to run out of gas which leads to low level premature scraps where fights are no longer watchable
4) allow fighters to juice throughout their camps and start testing fighters a couple of weeks out of their match date
5) pay fighters based on their popularity. If fighter A is a draw then pay him/her accordingly. Fighters who don't sell tickets or draw crowds in should be paid less. Track tv ratings during fights, start polls asking people what fights and fighters they are looking forward to watch, initiate surveys and hand them out to people who attend live events and have them vote using their phones or using any kind of technology in that regard
I have many more ideas but I don't want make a page full of texts and bore you guys. What about you fellow sherdoggers; what are some of your ideas to help popularize the UFC? Please don't troll and be serious. No ban WMMA or smaller weight classes b.s. please
