It seems the tactic of the left in fighting the radicals is to show them how wonderful life in the west is, so they will reach their own enlightenment.

Now, this is not necessarily a bad strategy, I just feel it's the wrong time in history to do it. A moderate Muslim is going to see the homosexuality and gender movements in the west as a thing of either mental illness (which I would agree) or evil. It should be apparent that our lifestyle is not compatible with a good 20% of the Muslim population (I'm being generous here, for the sake of argument) and bringing them over here may encourage radicalization by culture shock. To the point that the holy books forbid the lifestyle choices here in the west, it's only a natural reaction.

The problem has roots in the religion itself (killing of apostates, for example), but the current state of western values I feel will prevent assimilation of what could be Muslims that would otherwise be contributing members of society.

At the current time, I think it's fair to state that the two cultures are incompatible.

I too was repulsed by the OP. But I don't think this would've evoked the same reaction without the poor fathers testimony. Personally, I think it's best to see it for what it really is. The state of the world is not acceptable for decent human beings, I don't think we should hide it in the darkness. This type of shit needs light shed on it.

No, it doesn't need a play by play. General descriptions are more than adequate. That a bunch of conservatives are choosing to not see that...is something quite special.
